  • 49 x MAN trucks regularly transport air freight on the 65-kilometre-long route between Dubai’s two airports
  • To date, they have covered over 19 million kilometres without disruption
  • More than 375 trips daily

At Emirates SkyCargo in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a total of 49 x MAN TGS 19.400 semitrailer tractors are tasked with ensuring that the second-largest air freight haulier in the world keeps to its tight schedules with utmost reliability, and that its customers from all corners of the globe are always content. The Emirates air freight centre is located at Al Maktoum Airport in the UAE, whilst Emirates’ passenger fleet is based at Dubai International Airport – 65 kilometres away. As Emirates also uses its passenger fleet to handle air freight, a large number of goods have to be transported between the two airports by land. For this purpose, Emirates SkyCargo relies on the services of the Allied Transport Company (ATC).

ATC is one of the leading transport companies, with the largest fleet of trucks on the market in the United Arab Emirates and the surrounding region. 49 x trucks from the ATC fleet are provided to Emirates SkyCargo for exclusive use for their services. This fleet concerns an impeccable selection of MAN vehicles. The 2-axle MAN TGS 19.400 semitrailer tractors, equipped with an LX cab and a volume-optimised air freight box semitrailer, are on the road day and night between the two major airports – Maktoum International Airport (DWC) and Dubai International Airport (DXB).

So far in the four years of collaboration between Emirates SkyCargo, Allied Transport and MAN, the MAN TGS semitrailer combination trucks have covered around 19 million kilometres effortlessly; this equates to 25 x the distance to the moon and back. During this time, the MAN TGS trucks from ATC have hauled well over a million air freight containers from one airport to the other. They make up to 375 journeys a day between the two airports. The MAN TGS trucks have proved to be extremely reliable, and, with their driver assistance systems, very safe. It is not without reason that Emirates SkyCargo is extremely satisfied with ATC and the MAN TGS 19.400 trucks: they have helped the company remain true to its schedule with safety, reliability, and without a single breakdown.
