Battery-electric trucks are no longer a technology of the future but an operational reality: more than 15,000 eTrucks are already in daily operation on Europe’s roads, run by around 5,000 haulage and transport companies.

The commercial vehicle market is undergoing a structural transformation and will continue to advance this development. The European Union requires manufacturers to reduce fleet CO₂ emissions significantly, while an increasing number of shippers are already demanding emission-free transport in their tenders. As a result, electrification is shifting from an option to a necessity. According to leading studies, the share of battery-electric new truck registrations is expected to reach 15 to 35 percent from 2030 onward.

Companies that begin electrifying their depots and fleets early can often benefit from higher rates for zero-emission transport services, position themselves as essential partners within low-carbon supply chains, and build the expertise in energy generation and management that will be critical to long-term success.

The entire system matters

The decisive advantage does not arise from the vehicle alone, but from the entire ecosystem of vehicle, depot, charging infrastructure, and energy management. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is determined by factors such as energy prices, charging infrastructure, toll charges, and CO₂-related costs.

The depot represents the greatest lever for profitability. Up to 90 percent of all charging events already take place, and will continue to take place, at the operator’s own facilities. By combining photovoltaic systems, battery storage, and intelligent charging strategies, energy costs can be reduced to below €0.16 per kilowatt-hour. Over a five-year period, this can generate TCO advantages of up to 13 percent compared with diesel vehicles.

The MAN strategic report “Beyond Diesel” demonstrates that this approach is already working today through three real-world customer archetypes at different stages of business transformation: Foppiani Transport (Italy) represents the structured entry into electrification, Betonwerk Bad Lausick (Germany) exemplifies scaling through intelligent energy systems, and Schlager Transport Logistik (Austria) showcases a successful end-to-end electrification model.

BEV Starter: A structured entry into electrification

The family-owned company Foppiani Transport from Milan operates an entirely MAN-based fleet in national line-haul and specialist transport services. With one electric tractor unit, one electric chassis vehicle, another MAN eTGX on order, depot charging infrastructure, and a 350 kWp photovoltaic installation in Milan, Foppiani demonstrates how a carefully selected initial route can become the starting point for electrification, even under challenging conditions.

Customer involvement proved to be a key success factor: “The added value of battery-electric trucks outweighs the additional costs, because our customers are willing to pay a premium for the benefits provided,” says Pietro Zanon, Purchasing & Maintenance Manager at Foppiani.

BEV Scaler: Scaling and economic performance above all

Operating within the tight schedules of the concrete logistics sector, the medium-sized company Betonwerk Bad Lausick uses five MAN eTGX trucks equipped with six battery packs, supported by a sophisticated depot energy ecosystem comprising 400 kW charging stations, 1.8 MWp of photovoltaic capacity, and battery storage systems across multiple locations. This setup delivers a TCO advantage of approximately €500,000 over five years.

For Managing Director Robin Schulze, economic viability is the primary consideration: “I will not stand here and engage in greenwashing. Economic viability must take precedence over everything else.” It is precisely this pragmatic, cost-focused approach that makes the example particularly credible for other fleet operators.

BEV System Operator: Electrification as a business strategy

For Schlager Transport Logistik, electrification is an integral part of the company’s business strategy. The Austrian long-haul transport specialist already operates a fleet that is 50 percent battery-electric and aims to become fully electric from 2030 onward. This transition is supported by an integrated depot energy system at its Saxen site, including approximately 765 kWp of photovoltaic capacity and 1.6 MWh of battery storage. Owner Hubert Schlager initially calculated the business case himself using Excel and concludes: “I am firmly convinced that around half of all commercial vehicle fleets in Germany and Austria can already be electrified economically today.”

“The examples clearly demonstrate that electric trucks are already economically viable today. However, the decisive competitive advantage will be secured only by those companies that electrify the entire system consisting of vehicle, depot, charging infrastructure, and energy management. At MAN, we support both new and existing customers as a trusted partner, providing clarity on where they currently stand in their transformation journey and how they can continue to develop,” says Roland Schurig, Vice President Zero Emission Projects at MAN Truck & Bus.

The full “Beyond Diesel” strategy report (English version), together with executive summaries in German and English, is available for download now at press.mantruckandbus.com.

Corporate,E-Mobility,Truck

It demonstrates confidence in our products and our brand. It will allow us to support our customers with even better service in future.”

MAN Truck & Bus will invest considerably more in the further development of its service network by 2030 than previously planned. The reason: the strong confidence of dealers, service partners and importers in the continued development of the brand and the product portfolio. In total, around €700 million will now be invested in expanding and further developing MAN Truck & Bus's European sales and service network by the end of 2030.

MAN announced in spring that it intended to invest €300 million in its own network. On top of this, MAN's dealers, service partners and importers are now planning to invest around €400 million in their MAN service locations across Europe. Together, the company and its network partners aim to open new sites, modernise existing locations, optimise regional coverage and further improve service quality. Around one third of the planned investment is being channelled specifically into e-mobility and digitalisation – from high-voltage qualification for service technicians and battery repair centres through to the installation of publicly accessible charging points at MAN branches.

“An investment of this scale is unprecedented in MAN's history. It is a powerful program by MAN and its partners underlining our joint confidence in our brand and products supported by this additional commitment. Our customers will benefit in the future with even better service,” says Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board for Sales & Customer Solutions at MAN.

The goal: getting even closer to the customer

These investments will further shorten customers' journeys to the workshop. The aim is for almost 80 per cent of customers to be within a 30-minute drive of the nearest MAN service location. The countries in which this is to be achieved include Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain and Turkey. In some particularly logistics-intensive regions, this target will also be met by building new sites.

Investment drive in full swing

MAN is pressing ahead with implementation, and the first milestones have already been reached. Near Lisbon in Portugal, the ground-breaking ceremony has just taken place for a new company-owned MAN sales and service branch. A new site in Lithuania is also set to open shortly: long-standing MAN partner Adampolis Group will open one of the largest sales and service locations for MAN vehicles anywhere in Europe at its Kaunas side later this year.

Corporate

MAN Truck & Bus took part for the second time – together with long-standing importer Penske Australia & New Zealand. The focus was on the chassis business in general, and in particular on the new generation of the MAN Lion's Chassis IC (RR8).

70 buses for a family business

Alongside the chassis range, the 70th MAN bus on display for the Fallon Bus Group was a highlight of the appearance. The company, based in the Australian state of Victoria, dates back to 1962 and is now run by the third generation of the family. Fallon has predominantly relied on MAN since 2012. The anniversary bus is based on the 330 hp MAN Lion's Chassis IC (RR8) and features a body built by Coach Concepts.

“The combination of modern safety technology, high reliability and low operating costs makes MAN a compelling choice for us,” says Luke Fallon, Director of the Fallon Bus Group. “Equally important is the exceptional support from MAN and Penske, which keeps our fleet running every day.”

Safety is the deciding factor in school bus transport

MAN is particularly successful in the region's school bus segment – an area where operators are placing increasing emphasis on assistance systems. Emergency brake assist, adaptive cruise control, electronic stability programme, and lane departure and lane return assist are all part of the standard equipment on the innovative Lion's Chassis models, making MAN, together with low total cost of ownership, the preferred solution for many operators.

“With a reliable customer service infrastructure of more than 60 authorised dealers and workshops across Australia, Penske is excellently positioned to support the growing demand from school, charter and regional operators throughout the entire operating cycle,” says Tom Kuiphuis, Head of Bus for the Australasia Cluster at MAN Truck & Bus.

Next step: electric buses for Australasia

At its previous appearance at the Australasia Bus & Coach Expo, MAN unveiled the Lion's Chassis E – the first fully electric MAN chassis for markets outside Europe. Going forward, the first eBuses built on this chassis are set to enter customer service in the region, supporting operators on their journey towards lower-emission public transport.

“Australia and New Zealand are very important markets for our international bus business,” says Tom Kuiphuis, summarising the trade fair appearance. “Together with Penske, we want to continue strengthening our position and grow our business in a region that promises enormous growth in the years ahead.” Penske Australia recently secured an order from local transport operator Kinetic for 22 MAN Lion's Chassis LE (RC2), with delivery scheduled for early 2027.

A model that works worldwide

Success in Australasia follows the same pattern seen in other markets outside Europe: MAN supplies the chassis, while experienced local body manufacturers and importers take responsibility for bodywork, sales and service. In this way, 311 coaches were recently produced in Thailand, and in Indonesia, MAN showcased its chassis solutions for the first time at Busworld Southeast Asia in May 2026. MAN has also appointed three body manufacturers – TopBest, Modasa and Geyushi – as “MAN Lead Bodybuilders”.

“Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Indonesia are excellent examples of how our international chassis strategy works: we provide the technical foundation, and our local partners contribute bodybuilding expertise and customer proximity,” says Barbaros Oktay, Head of Bus at MAN Truck & Bus. “This is how we are growing in markets that demand the very highest standards of safety and reliability.”

Bus

A very important contribution to this is "remanufacturing instead of replacement", i.e. the remanufacturing of MAN engines at the Nuremberg plant. A current Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has now scientifically confirmed the environmental benefits of MAN Original Remanufacturing for the first time, using the MAN D2842 LE622 railway engine as an example.

The study, conducted by the University of Bayreuth, Germany, and validated by an independent expert on behalf of DEKRA Assurance Services GmbH, compares the environmental impact of a newly manufactured MAN D2842 LE622 rail engine with those of a MAN Genuine Remanufactured Engine of the same type. The result: 8,320 kilograms of CO₂ equivalents were determined for the production and delivery of a newly manufactured engine. CO₂ equivalents summarize the climate impact of various greenhouse gases in a common parameter. The MAN Genuine Remanufactured Engine causes 2,355 kilograms of CO₂ equivalents within the same scope of investigation. This corresponds to a reduction of 5,965 kilograms of CO₂ equivalents or 72 percent.

In addition to greenhouse gas emissions, the study looks at other relevant influencing factors. This reduces the use of new materials by 80 percent compared to new production. The transport capacity of the components is reduced by 87 percent. The results make it clear that the reuse of suitable components in particular can make a significant contribution to reducing material and logistics costs.

Combustion engines will continue to be needed in certain applications in the future. This is particularly true where high performance is required in a tight installation space, machines and vehicles remain in use for a long time and there are currently no suitable alternative drives. Examples of this are railway applications, especially dual-mode operation, commercial shipping and power generation. In such applications, extending product life cycles can help reduce emissions generated during the manufacture of new products.

The investigation is not limited to the comparison of a new engine with an engine that has been remanufactured once. In addition, scenarios over several life cycles were considered. If a new engine is remanufactured and reused once after its first phase of use, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 33 percent compared to a scenario with two new engines. In the case of further remanufacturing, the reduction increases to 45 percent compared to a scenario with three new engines. At the same time, the use of materials and transport costs continue to decrease.

"The results show the enormous potential of extending product life cycles," says Josef Lukaschtik, Head of Remanufacturing at MAN Truck & Bus. "For applications in which combustion engines are still needed, MAN Genuine Remanufacturing can be a way to use existing resources for longer and reduce production-related environmental impacts."

The study also provides scientifically sound evidence of the importance of remanufacturing within MAN's service and existing business. In addition to MAN Genuine Remanufactured Engines, the portfolio also includes remanufactured components and parts from the "MAN Genuine Parts ecoline" product line. "Remanufactured components help to keep resources in the cycle for longer and offer customers cost-effective solutions with high availability," says Vanessa Reinarz, Head of Product Management Genuine Parts at MAN Truck & Bus. In this way, MAN supports customers throughout the entire life cycle of their products – from the supply of spare parts to the professional reconditioning of complete drive systems.

The life cycle analysis was carried out in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14040 and DIN EN ISO 14044. The relevant stages of the life path within the defined system boundaries were considered. The results presented relate exclusively to the MAN D2842 LE622 examined and the framework conditions described in the study.

Further information on the methodology, the scope of the study and the results of the study can be found on the landing page https://go.man/lcad2842

Engines & Components,Sustainability

The key innovation is the introduction of Lifetime Connectivity, available to customers at no additional cost. This means that all in-vehicle digital services, including online functions and map updates, are provided free of charge throughout the vehicle’s lifetime. For camper users, this ensures continuous access to services such as over-the-air updates, news and weather applications, and the digital owner’s manual. With the newly introduced MAN ID, customers also gain access to MAN Connect Streaming & Remote services, including the IDA Online Voice Assistant (powered by ChatGPT), web radio with included data volume, and Spotify (subscription required).

The previously chargeable MAN EfficientRoute package is now permanently integrated at no extra cost as well. The prerequisite is that the vehicle is equipped with either MAN Media Van Navigation or Media Van Navigation Business. Customers benefit from online traffic information, intelligent route planning and points-of-interest services, while online navigation map updates are now also available free of charge.

MAN Individual expands its offering

To meet the growing demand for personalization, MAN Individual is also showcasing its products at Caravan Salon. Customers can choose between the new MAN TGE Individual Black Package as an entry-level option, the established MAN TGE Individual Lion S line, and the new MAN TGE Individual Lion X. Defining features of the Lion X include front and rear underride protection elements, newly designed wheel arch extensions, mirror caps with distinctive lion-inspired detailing, and a rear frame accent. Optional black-finished bull bars and side protection tubes further enhance the vehicle’s off-road appearance. Performance kits are also available, increasing output for light-duty engines from 177 hp to 202 hp and, newly, for the heavy-duty engine from 163 hp to 190 hp.

With its presence at Caravan Salon 2026, MAN underscores its ambition to play a long-term role in shaping the motorhome market. This marks the final phase of the research project, which was funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. To this end, MAN Truck & Bus has handed over three fuel cell trucks to LoadFox Transport Solutions GmbH. The vehicles will be deployed in regular logistics operations over a period of three months. Routes will run between MAN locations in Munich, Dachau and Nuremberg, as well as on additional routes throughout southern Germany.

The fuel cell trucks deployed in the project are based on an electric drive system in which hydrogen in gaseous form is converted into electrical energy. The core component is the fuel cell system supplied by project partner Robert Bosch GmbH. High-voltage batteries complement the energy supply to cover peak loads and store recuperated energy. The AxTrax 2 dual electric drive axle from ZF converts the energy into propulsion.

The hydrogen is stored in 700-bar pressure tanks from Forvia with a currently installed capacity of 36 kilograms. The vehicles are designed for a range of approximately 450 to 500 kilometres. In total, the Bayernflotte trucks deliver a drive output of 350 kW. In practical operation, hydrogen consumption is around seven to eight kilograms per 100 kilometres. With a wheelbase of 4,000 millimetres, an unladen weight of approximately 11.5 tonnes and a designed gross combination weight of up to 42 tonnes, the vehicles meet the requirements of heavy distribution and long-haul transport applications.

LoadFox is acting as the operational logistics partner in this project. As an in-house transport company set up by MAN, LoadFox operates prototype vehicles and autonomous vehicles, and tests digital services under real-world conditions in freight transport. The aim is to gain valuable insights from the customer’s perspective through the direct application of innovative technologies in day-to-day operations, with a view to the targeted further development of products and services for MAN.

The data generated within the Bayernflotte project will be systematically evaluated and incorporated into the further development of hydrogen technologies within the TRATON Group. The focus is on efficiency, reliability and economic viability in day-to-day operations. This has laid the foundation for future vehicle generations.

MAN expects battery-electric commercial vehicles to become the dominant technology in road freight transport, as they outperform all other drive technologies in terms of energy efficiency, operating costs and greenhouse gas reduction potential. Hydrogen technologies, such as the MAN hTGX hydrogen combustion engine vehicles already introduced in a limited series, and fuel cell-powered vehicles in the future, can play an important complementary role in specific applications - for example, on very long transport routes or in regions with insufficient charging infrastructure.

Truck,Research & Development

With this vehicle, MAN is the first manufacturer in Europe to bring the new commercial-vehicle-specific charging technology into practical operation, creating the conditions for significantly shorter charging times in battery-electric road freight transport. The first MCS-ready MAN eTrucks will be delivered step by step to customers in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the Czech Republic. By doing so, MAN is already providing its customers with the eTrucks of tomorrow while simultaneously supporting the development of a powerful ecosystem of vehicles and charging infrastructure.

MCS enables significantly higher charging capacities than the currently established Combined Charging System (CCS). While CCS currently allows charging capacities of up to 375 kW for MAN eTrucks, MCS-equipped vehicles can achieve charging capacities of up to 750 kW, with up to 1,000 amps and up to 750 volts. As a result, charging times are considerably reduced. Charging the battery from 20% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in a MAN eTGX or MAN eTGS with six batteries and a total battery capacity of 534 kWh takes less than 30 minutes using MCS technology. Even with the seven-battery configuration available for chassis vehicles, providing a total capacity of 623 kWh, charging to 80% SoC takes less than 40 minutes using MCS. This means that eTrucks can be recharged during legally required driver break periods. Customers benefit from reduced downtime, improved vehicle utilisation and greater operational flexibility. With ranges of up to 570 kilometres between charging stops in a typical long-haul tractor-semitrailer configuration, daily ranges exceeding 1,000 kilometres can be achieved within the same working time as with a diesel truck.

“The MCS ecosystem is currently at an important stage of market introduction. Vehicles, charging infrastructure and IT backend systems are evolving dynamically and hand in hand. With the first MCS vehicles, MAN is actively helping to establish the new charging standard in Europe and further strengthen interoperability throughout the overall system,” says Roman Sitte, Head of Sales Area Europe at MAN Truck & Bus.

To ensure the smooth ramp-up of the new technology, MAN is working closely with relevant charging infrastructure manufacturers. In principle, the MAN eTGX and eTGS are designed to meet the requirements of different charging infrastructures. In addition to the front-left MCS charging position, the vehicles can optionally be equipped with additional CCS charging points at the front-right position and, for chassis vehicles, at the rear on both the left and right sides. This positioning of the charging ports facilitates use at both public and private charging stations and improves accessibility across various locations.

As part of its 360° eMobility consulting services, MAN Transport Solutions already takes available and planned MCS charging stations into account in order to optimally plan long-haul eTruck operations for customers. In addition, through the MAN Charge&Go offering, customers can conveniently and cost-effectively charge their batteries across Europe at MCS and CCS charging points that have been specifically tested and approved for eTruck requirements.

Truck,E-Mobility

(BorKorSor). The vehicles, based on the MAN Lion's Chassis CO (RR3), are the first coaches with Euro 5 technology in Thailand. "This marks an important milestone for clean and comfortable mobility in the country," says Barbaros Oktay, Head of Bus at MAN Truck & Bus, adding: "At the same time, the project underlines our international growth strategy in the bus business."

New coaches impress with comfort, safety and efficiency

The coaches are based on the two-axle Lion's Chassis CO (RR3) and were built by TopBest in configurations with 24, 32 and 36 seats. Going forward, they will operate on key long-distance routes between Bangkok and the northern, southern and north-eastern regions, offering passengers, drivers and the operator a significant boost in comfort, safety and efficiency. The modern vehicles also impress with lower emissions thanks to their Euro 5 technology. With this fleet expansion, Transport Co., Ltd. is strengthening Thailand's transport network and significantly driving forward the modernisation of long-distance public transport.

As part of the delivery, the operator has also launched a new VIP bus service under the motto "Travel with Heart", featuring luxurious 24-seat coaches. This service covers key routes from Thailand's capital to Koh Samui, Nakhon Phanom, Chiang Mai and Mae Sot.

"Thailand is a key market for our bus business, one that we want to continue developing consistently. Together with our local importer, we are unlocking additional potential, including beyond the country's borders," says Hadi Zamani, Head of International Sales Bus at MAN Truck & Bus.

Key to success: close cooperation with local body manufacturers

The order in Thailand illustrates just how important regional partnerships are for MAN's international bus business. Unlike in Europe, where MAN manufactures complete buses, the focus in global markets is on high-performance bus chassis – ranging from low-floor and low-entry to high-floor chassis. Local, MAN-certified body manufacturers then build on this base to create bespoke, market-ready complete solutions locally. "This allows us to respond flexibly to the different regional requirements and customer needs, while at the same time expanding our presence in emerging markets worldwide," says Oktay.

A key component of this strategy is a strong network of reliable partners in the respective regions. With TopBest for the Asia region, Modasa for Central and South America, and Geyushi for North Africa and the Middle East, MAN has officially appointed three selected body manufacturers as "MAN Lead Bodybuilders". The aim of these deepened partnerships is to open up additional sales channels, intensify technical exchange, and further improve the quality and availability of the finished buses – benefits that flow through significantly to end customers, as well as to drivers and passengers.

"These partnerships create a robust international network and new sales channels – both in our partners' home markets and for export," says Oktay, adding: "Thailand is an excellent example of how this close cooperation creates concrete, high-quality mobility solutions for our customers on the ground."

Bus

With the new top output of 1,000 hp (735 kW), the 12.4-litre engine expands its range of applications in the upper power range. The new motor type is designed to combine higher power requirements with a compact design and improved dynamics in operation.

The MAN i6X is largely based on the established MAN D2676 technical platform, which was introduced in 2015 for workboats and (under the name MAN i6) for yachts. The performance-enhanced MAN i6X uses many common parts with the MAN i6 series, which still exists. A newly developed turbocharging concept, which still requires only one turbocharger, makes a significant contribution to the increase in performance. This approach makes it possible to open up new service areas on a mature basis and at the same time deliberately limit the complexity and thus the weight of the system. The new designation MAN i6X clearly distinguishes the further developed performance level from the existing MAN i6 and at the same time classifies it in the existing in-line six-cylinder platform.

"With the MAN i6X, we are taking our proven in-line six-cylinder platform into higher performance ranges. The innovative turbocharging concept creates clear advantages in the powertrain that were previously not available in this form," says Reiner Rößner, Head of Sales MAN Engines.

The central feature of the MAN i6X is the newly developed turbocharging concept. The engine is designed to achieve high performance values with a single-stage system. In the selected power class, this represents an independent approach, as comparable performance levels are often implemented with multi-stage charging systems. The MAN i6X, on the other hand, pursues the goal of reducing complexity and specific weight while at the same time ensuring highly dynamic response.

The design of the engine deliberately focuses on the interplay of performance, dynamics and reduced specific fuel consumption compared to the predecessor variant. One focus is on the rapid availability of the maximum torque of 3,250 Nm and thus on agile acceleration behaviour. For yacht and sport fishing applications, this means that increased power and dynamics are provided not only in the rated power range, but especially in situations where immediate propulsion response is required, especially in the lower speed range, such as when accelerating or manoeuvring.

"With the MAN i6X, we have developed the performance of our tried-and-tested D26 series for our customers in a unique way, so that they combine greater dynamics and higher power density with lower fuel consumption with proven reliability," says Werner Kübler, Head of Engineering at MAN Engines.

The further development of the MAN i6X focuses on the functional areas relevant to the higher performance range. These include a new charging system and thermal management. An advanced intercooling system and an extended, demand-driven oil cooling concept ensure stable operating conditions even under high loads and enable continuous output within defined application profiles.

At the same time, the MAN i6X remains closely linked to existing engine variants. The high proportion of identical components supports the technical maturity of the concept and transfers proven design principles to the new power range. For operators, this means that familiar structures and system logics are retained in maintenance and operation.

The chosen concept has a direct effect on the power-to-weight ratio of the engine and amounts to 0.8 hp/kg (~0.6 kW/kg) with a displacement of 12.4 litres. "The MAN i6X thus sets a new benchmark in this class. For our customers, this means high performance from a compact, clearly structured engine platform," says Reiner Rößner, Head of Sales at MAN Engines. For shipyards and system integrators, this creates additional degrees of freedom in the design of yacht and sport fishing applications, especially where power, dynamics, weight and integration effort interact closely together.

The new MAN i6X engine generation is designed for use in international markets and will meet the relevant emission requirements IMO Tier II, EPA Tier III and EU Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53EU. In addition, the MAN i6X has almost the same dimensions as the MAN i6, although the customer interfaces have remained identical. This means that it can be integrated into existing ship concepts and used under different regulatory frameworks.

Within the engine generation, the power level of 1,000 hp (735 kW) represents an extension of the previous range. In addition to the 1000 hp (735 kW) variant, a variant with 900 hp (662 kW) will also be available. They complement the existing variants of the MAN i6 in-line six-cylinder engine with 730, 800 and 850 hp (537, 588 and 625 kW) and open up applications that previously often had to be realised with alternatives with higher weight or larger installation space.

The MAN i6X will be presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 8 to 13 September 2026 at the MAN Engines stand at the Vieux Port, Jetée Nord, Jetée 193. The engine will be available as standard from the first quarter of 2028.

Engines & Components

All key performance indicators rose in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Sales revenue (+6%) and sales volume (+8%) grew. Order intake increased by 6%. Profitability was also higher than in the same period last year: Adjusted operating profit rose to €486 million (up €80 million), and the adjusted operating margin was 7.0% (+0.8 ppt).

MAN CEO Alexander Vlaskamp: “At MAN, we have been performing solidly in our core business for three and a half years now, despite a weak market. MAN consistently delivers reliable, solid results and strong cash flow. Compared to the previous year, we were able to increase operating profit by another 0.8 percentage points. This is remarkable in a highly volatile market environment. The figures also reflect the impact of the initiatives we’ve undertaken in recent years to improve our cash position and profitability. For full year 2026, we expect demand to remain relatively subdued, particularly in Germany, and the market to continue to be marked by uncertainty."

Electric mobility continues to grow at an above-average rate

In total, MAN sold 50,900 vehicles in the first half of the year (+8%) – 27,300 of them in the second quarter. The German market performed more weakly compared to the rest of the European market. Sales of fully electric vehicles grew particularly strongly. Sales of these vehicles rose by 37% to 1,100 units in the first half of the year – including around 600 eTrucks and 500 eBuses.

E-Portfolio Complete – Two More Models Electrified

MAN offers a comprehensive, all-electric truck portfolio ranging from 12 to 50 tons – from light-duty distribution applications to heavy-duty long-haul transport. In addition, the all-electric Lion’s Coach E tour bus will be delivered to its first customers later this year. Furthermore, MAN is expanding its portfolio to meet the specific requirements of municipalities and emergency services – a market of great importance to MAN: For example, the world’s first fully electric turntable ladder truck for fire departments weighing less than 16 metric tons – based on the new battery-electric eTGM – was unveiled, and the first electric garbage collection trucks from MAN are already in operation in Judenburg, Austria.

Production is poised for the continued growth of electric mobility: Krakow has now become MAN’s second truck plant to go electric, with series production of the MAN eTGL light-duty truck series having begun in July. Later in 2026, the new medium-duty MAN eTGM will also roll off the assembly line there. This makes Kraków the second production site for electric trucks alongside Munich, where the heavy-duty electric trucks MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS are manufactured.

At its plant in Ankara, Turkey, the company also began series production of its all-electric MAN Lion’s City E city bus in the first half of the year – marking its third global e-bus production site, alongside Starachowice in Poland and Olifantsfontein in South Africa.

MAN With the facility in Blida, the company is strategically expanding its local presence and tapping into additional sales potential in a key market in the region.

Partnership and Market Potential

The resumption of CKD production is being implemented in close cooperation with local partner, MTC, which has been doing business for MAN in Algeria since 2003. MTC has maintained the existing CKD assembly plant for more than two decades - even during periods of temporarily suspended production.

The plant in Blida has a production capacity of up to eight vehicles per day and offers a high degree of flexibility thanks to two parallel assembly lines. Depending on market demand, both truck and bus chassis can be produced. The current focus is on models from the MAN TGS series in 4x2, 6x4 and 8x4 configurations, primarily for long-haul applications.

With the reopening of the factory, the MAN brand will maintain its historically leading position as the first European commercial vehicle manufacturer to import CKD kits into Algeria and assemble them locally. The goal is to deliver approximately 1,500 vehicles per year in the Algerian market in the medium term, building on the strong foundation already in place for further growth.

“The restart of CKD production in Algeria together with our partner Maghreb Truck Company is an important step in further strengthening our international footprint. By combining our global expertise with strong local partnerships, we are bringing our products closer to our customers and responding even more flexibly to local requirements.”, said Friedrich Baumann, Member of the Executive Board for Sales & Customer Solutions, MAN Truck & Bus.

“We are proud to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with MAN through the restart of CKD production in Blida. Building on more than 20 years of successful collaboration, we are well positioned to serve the Algerian market with locally assembled, high-quality vehicles tailored to customer needs.”, said Nabil Salhi, CEO of Maghreb Truck Company.

CKD at MAN

The Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) approach is a central component of MAN Truck & Bus’s international growth strategy. Under this model, vehicles are shipped to target markets as individual parts and assembled locally – offering both economic and regulatory advantages while facilitating long-term market access. At the same time, collaboration with local partners strengthens regional value creation and supports the development of long-term customer relationships. MAN operates a global network of CKD sites and works closely with local partners with active operations in Algeria, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Morocco, Kenya and Uzbekistan.

Focus on North Africa: Growth through Local Value Creation

North Africa is one of the fastest-growing regions in the commercial vehicle segment and offers significant potential: particularly in construction, infrastructure and logistics. Against this backdrop, MAN is placing a strong focus on local CKD production in order to align more closely with market requirements.

The restart of CKD production is accompanied by targeted investments in infrastructure, processes and training. MAN has conducted technical training for local employees to ensure compliance with global quality standards and to further strengthen local production expertise. By combining local know-how with international expertise, MAN is establishing a high-performance production base designed for sustainable growth in the North African market.

Maghreb Truck Company

Maghreb Truck Company has been MAN’s official and exclusive importer in Algeria since 2003. Over more than two decades, MTC has built a strong market position through continuous investment, high-quality customer service and long-term customer relationships.

In addition to its headquarters and main workshop in Algiers, the company operates high quality service facilities in Oran, Sétif and Laghouat, ensuring nationwide customer support, reinforcing MAN’s leading position in the Algerian commercial vehicle market.

MTC employs around 250 people, including a dedicated team of 50 employees working in CKD production at the Blida site, providing a solid foundation for the resumption of local assembly operations.

Corporate

The team, led by head coach Vincent Kompany, is welcoming a special new addition: MAN Truck & Bus has delivered a new MAN Lion’s Coach L to the German record champions. Featuring the eye-catching FC Bayern red and a large club logo, the bus will become an unmistakable companion for the team on their travels throughout Germany and Europe. This makes the bus not only a real head-turner but, above all, an important retreat for the team before and after games.

“We are very pleased to continue our long-standing partnership with FC Bayern Munich and to continue accompanying the team safely and comfortably to their matches with a MAN Lion’s Coach,” says Michael Kobriger, Executive Board Member for Production and Logistics at MAN Truck & Bus, adding: “The bus combines state-of-the-art technology, the highest level of comfort, and an unmistakable design – making it a worthy companion for the German record champions.”

The handover took place at the FCB club grounds on Säbener Straße and marks another milestone in the long-standing collaboration between MAN and FC Bayern Munich.

Rouven Kasper, FC Bayern’s Board Member for Marketing & Sales: “The long-standing partnership between FC Bayern and MAN demonstrates how top-level football and cutting-edge technology go hand in hand. The new MAN team bus, specially tailored to our team’s needs, reflects our commitment to the highest level of professionalism in every detail. The innovative features we’ve developed together show how we’re shaping progress side by side. Wherever FC Bayern stops on its travels, the distinctive design makes it clear at first glance who is visiting.”

Powerful drive train and state-of-the-art driver’s cabin

The new MAN Lion’s Coach L combines impressive travel comfort with innovative safety and vehicle technology. The 13.9-meter-long three-axle coach is powered by the efficient yet powerful D2676 LOH 6-cylinder diesel engine, which delivers 382 kW (520 PS) and meets the Euro 6e emissions standard. The driver’s digital cockpit meets the highest ergonomic standards, features a clear layout, and is intuitive to operate. This ensures outstanding comfort and excellent visibility on long trips to away games throughout Europe.

A retreat and place of comfort for the entire team

Players, coaches, and support staff also travel in utmost comfort. The interior was custom-designed by the experts at MAN Bus Modification exclusively to meet the team’s needs. In the rear, for example, a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerators, a sink, a fully automatic coffee machine, and ample space for preparing and storing meals ensures the team’s physical well-being. Four height-adjustable face-to-face tables provide space for discussions between coaches and players before and after games. The interior is complemented by spacious storage cabinets as well as table and leg rests.

Premium Wi-Fi, technical support for streaming services, three HD monitors, a high-performance sound system, LED ambient lighting, and a starlit ceiling inside the vehicle ensure relaxation and entertainment on longer trips.

Innovative driver assistance systems for maximum safety

In addition to comfort, safety was a key priority. As a result, the team bus is equipped with numerous innovative driver assistance and safety systems. These include, among others, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), the lane departure warning system with haptic alerts, Lane Change Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, radar-based turn assist, a collision warning system with pedestrian detection, MAN SafeStop Assist, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist, the MAN AttentionGuard, the enhanced Emergency Brake Assist (EBA Plus), and 360-degree bird view via six cameras.

Outlook: Fully electric team bus coming in the 26/27 season

The collaboration between the two Munich-based partners dates back to 2008 and continues to evolve. A key focus of this partnership is the goal of reducing mobility-related greenhouse gas emissions. Over the course of the upcoming season, FC Bayern’s existing fleet will therefore be expanded to include a fully electric MAN Lion’s Coach E. Following the successful world premiere of the electric coach, extensive testing and preparations for production are currently in full swing. MAN and FC Bayern Munich are also already working closely together on the necessary charging infrastructure: Together, the partners are establishing a public charging station for e-trucks and e-buses at the Allianz Arena. In doing so, they are laying the groundwork for reducing mobility-related greenhouse gas emissions (compared to trucks and buses with conventional powertrains) in professional sports and beyond, and sending a strong signal in support of future-oriented innovations.

Bus,Coach,Corporate,Sustainability

People. Partner.", MAN will be presenting its particularly efficient truck and van portfolio from 3.5 to 250 tonnes at the IAA Transportation 2026 – equipped with conventional and electric drives, digital services for high vehicle availability and modern safety and assistance systems. The offer is supplemented by a comprehensive ecosystem around electromobility, charging and energy supply. In this way, MAN is showing how the transformation of the transport sector can be made successful and profitable. For the first time at the IAA: test drive opportunities that start directly at the MAN trade fair stand in Hall 11.

Whether electric or conventional: Efficiency as a decisive success factor

With the MAN eTGL, eTGM, eTGS and eTGX series, MAN will in future have an end-to-end electric truck portfolio from 12 to 50 tonnes, which will be on display in its entirety for the first time at the IAA Transportation 2026. It covers almost the entire range of applications from urban distribution logistics to municipal applications and construction site traffic to long-distance transport. Ranges of up to 570 kilometres without intermediate charging for a MAN eTGX in the typical long-haul semitrailer combination already allow it to be used economically in numerous classic transport applications. All model series benefit from a common, particularly efficient and modular battery technology that offers the right configuration for every transport task.

The focus is also on cost-effectiveness with conventional drives. The new D30 PowerLion powertrain enables fuel savings of up to five percent compared to its predecessor, making it one of the most efficient solutions on the market.

"Driving. People. Partner.' gets to the heart of what MAN stands for: With particularly efficient, reliable and safe vehicles, we are driving forward the transformation of transport. With our employees and our service network, we are close to our customers and will expand this proximity with investments of 300 million euros worldwide over the next few years. And as a reliable partner, we support them with holistic solutions on their way to an economically successful and sustainable transport business," says Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus.

New technologies reduce fuel and energy consumption

One focus of this year's innovations is the further development of the GPS-supported MAN EfficientCruise system with PredictiveDrive. By intelligently taking into account the route profile, traffic infrastructure and speed specifications, fuel and energy savings of up to 5,5 percent can be achieved with consistent use of the system, depending on the vehicle type and application profile. In challenging topographies, savings of up to nine percent are even possible. The system thus makes a direct contribution to reducing operating costs and relieving the driver's workload.

At the same time, MAN is improving the operational availability of its vehicles. Automatic map updates over the air keep the systems up to date without the need for workshop visits.

Safety as an important component

In addition to efficiency and availability, MAN is also focusing on road safety at the IAA Transportation 2026. Modern driver assistance systems support drivers in demanding traffic situations and help to prevent accidents or reduce their consequences. At the same time, they help fleet operators minimize unplanned downtime. Safety thus becomes an important component of an economical fleet operation.

The new features include the next generation of the MAN Emergency Brake Assist EBA Advanced emergency braking system, a new driver monitoring system for detecting distraction and fatigue, as well as extended functions for the protection of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in the near and turning areas. In addition, MAN is presenting new solutions for blind-spot monitoring and is expanding its MAN OptiView digital mirror replacement system to include an attractive entry-level version.

Holistic solutions for economical electromobility

For MAN, the cost-effectiveness of the transformation to electric drive does not end with the vehicle. That's why MAN Transport Solutions is focusing on the entire e-mobility ecosystem at the IAA, with intelligent solutions for charging infrastructure, smart charging and energy management. The aim is to optimize charging times, reduce energy costs and make the use of electric fleets economical. In line with this, MAN Charge&Go's range is growing by 50 additional charging stations in Europe, including in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Portugal. The charging service gives fleet customers access to a charging network that has been tested by MAN for electric truck suitability, which is continuously growing and can be used across countries.

In addition, MAN will provide an outlook on new applications such as bidirectional charging and, with the Smart Charging Cube, will be showing solutions for locations where high-performance grid connections are not yet available. Together with its own services and partners along the energy and charging infrastructure, this will create a comprehensive range of services for the successful transition to electric mobility.

MAN TGE with new free "Lifetime Connectivity"

At this year's IAA, the MAN TGE will also be dominated by efficiency, productivity and driver comfort. Ten years after its world premiere in Hanover, MAN is presenting new customization offers from MAN Individual as well as new MAN TGE Connect services. The MAN Individual range will be expanded to include the MAN TGE Individual Lion X equipment line and the Individual Black entry-level package.

The highlight of the digital service offering for the MAN van is the new "Lifetime Connectivity", which will be available from September at no additional cost to the customer. This means that all digital services in the MAN TGE, including online functions and map updates, are offered at no additional cost. Another innovation is the MAN TGE Connect app, which allows drivers to make their everyday work more comfortable, efficient and transparent. The application connects driver and vehicle in real time, creating a central interface for control and information.

Further press releases on the trade fair appearance

In the download area you can download the press kit for MAN's trade fair appearance. There you will find a total of eleven press releases, each in German and English, on the following topics, as well as photos for each of the press releases. The portal is aimed at customers and partners from the fields of yacht and workboat propulsion as well as stationary energy generation and provides extensive, engine-specific information in one place.

The core of the MAN Engines Service Portal is a structured, engine-related documentation platform. Users can access the original documentation of their product based on the individual engine number and download it directly if necessary. This means that technical documents such as operating, maintenance and installation instructions are available at all times, with specific engine numbers and updated on a daily basis – regardless of whether they are engines for power generation or for yachts and workboats.

The portal is consistently geared towards service and after-sales requirements. In addition to the technical documentation, users have access to other service-relevant content such as current service information, fuel recommendations and information on professional diagnostics based on MAN-CATS technology, which is used worldwide in the MAN service network for professional fault diagnosis, analysis and documentation of MAN engines. The range of products and services is supplemented by transparent information on warranty extensions, training courses for service personnel and the latest news from the MAN Engines environment. All content is continuously maintained and gradually expanded to digitally accompany the entire life cycle of an engine.

A central feature of the MAN Engines Service Portal is the role-based access logic. Depending on the user group – such as end customers, importers or service networks – content and applications are visible differently. This ensures that each target group receives exactly the information that is relevant to its respective use case without overwhelming users with an oversupply. Parts of the portal are only available to registered and authorized users, whereby individual content may be subject to a fee.

For operators and service partners, the new portal means one thing above all: more transparency, faster access to information and a significant simplification of everyday service. Differences between the delivery condition and the current status of an engine can be clearly traced, documents no longer have to be searched for via different systems, and technical information is available in a standardized form worldwide.

"With the MAN Engines Service Portal, we are for the first time consistently bundling our service know-how on a common platform for all areas of application," says Jürgen Haberland, Head of Services & Network at MAN Engines. "This gives our customers and partners direct, structured access to exactly the information they need for efficient operation, safe maintenance and fast service of their engines."

With the MAN Engines Service Portal, MAN Engines is building on an already well-established and far-reaching physical service network. With the new virtual hub, MAN Engines is strengthening its virtual service infrastructure and creating a uniform platform for different application worlds. The platform forms the digital backbone for even closer and more professional cooperation with partners and service organizations worldwide – and sustainably strengthens service quality across all application areas. Customers benefit from clear processes, reliable data and significantly improved availability of service-relevant information – across all market segments.

The MAN Engines Service Portal can now be accessed centrally via the QR code (if available) on the emission type plate on current engines or directly under https://manserviceportal.eu.

Engines & Components

These investments are based on the agreement reached with the works council as part of the MAN2030+ future program, under which, amongst other things, investments in the next generation of vehicles within the European production network were agreed. The projects now approved put these plans into practice.

During a visit by the Polish Minister for the Economy and Finance, Andrzej Domański, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed covering investments of approximately 1.2 billion euros, extending well into the next decade. Until 2030, the initial focus will be on expanding the Kraków plant, preparing the next generation of trucks based on the TRATON Modular System (TMS), and strengthening production capacity.

Kraków as a strategic production hub within the MAN network

Specifically, this initially involves establishing body-in-white and paint shop operations as well as the expansion of cab assembly activities. To this end, additional state-of-the-art and sustainable production facilities are being built for the manufacture of painted truck bodies. Once the expansion projects are complete, the production area will roughly double from 130,000 m² today to 270,000 m². This will enable MAN to significantly increase the depth of value creation at the site and lay the groundwork for the production of the next generation of vehicles. At the same time, the company is strengthening Kraków’s role and creating the foundation for further growth and additional jobs in the region. Further investments in future-oriented products are planned for a later date.

Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus: “With these investments in Poland, we are further expanding our presence in Europe. Kraków has played an important role in our production network for many years. The expansion into a full-scale manufacturing plant and the start of series production of our electric light-duty truck range position us strongly for the ongoing transformation of the industry and prepare us well for the future.”

Electrification of the portfolio and plants

Alongside the expansion of manufacturing operations, MAN is launching production of additional fully electric vehicles in Kraków. From mid-July 2026, the MAN eTGL will be produced entirely at the site. With the production of the light-duty MAN eTGL and the medium-duty MAN eTGM, Kraków will become MAN’s second electrified truck production site after Munich, where the heavy-duty electric MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS are manufactured.

As a result, MAN will offer a comprehensive fully electric truck portfolio ranging from 12 to 50 tonnes, covering all common transport applications – from light urban distribution to heavy long-haul transport.

Michael Kobriger, Executive Board Member for Production and Logistics, emphasizes the great significance of the new truck series: “The launch of the MAN eTGL is another important milestone on the path to zero-emission mobility. This is about much more than just the truck: it’s about an innovative product and a reliable service offering that provides our customers with optimal support during this transformation.”

Corporate

The focus is on the 30-litre MAN D3872 V12 engine, which the company is presenting to the world for the first time in various versions for on-board units, diesel-electric drive systems and heavy-duty operation. The trade fair appearance is complemented by a modular exhaust gas aftertreatment system and a MAN Genuine remanufactured engine. This underlines MAN Engines' approach of developing the engine, emissions solution and service concept as a technically coordinated overall package.

With the MAN D3872, MAN Engines is consistently expanding its range in the 30-litre segment and addressing applications in which high continuous output, reliability and flexible integration are required. As an engine for on-board gensets, the D3872 is specifically designed for on-board power generation and diesel-electric propulsion systems, complementing the existing propulsion engines of the series. Power levels of 800 kW or 840 kW at 1,500 rpm and 960 kW at 1,800 rpm are available for generator operation. Depending on market requirements, there is a choice of variants for the IMO Tier II emission standard without exhaust gas aftertreatment, IMO Tier III with the modular SCR system or for EU Stage V with SCR and diesel particulate filter. In the heavy-duty sector, MAN Engines offers the D3872 with outputs of 735 kW and 920 kW (1,000 hp and 1,250 hp) at 1,800 rpm.

The MAN D3872 is based on the established V12 platform and uses its advantages in terms of compact design, high power density and robust mechanical design for continuous use. As with the engines for on-board units, homologated engines according to IMO Tier II, IMO Tier III and EU Stage V are also offered for the heavy-duty versions. The motor on display at the trade fair can be used with single-stage charging for both generator and heavy-duty applications.

In addition to these heavy-duty applications with a high proportion of continuous loads, the MAN D3872 covers a wide range of performance across various operating modes. In the light duty range, 1,471 kW and 1,618 kW (2,000 hp and 2,200 hp) are available for applications with high power requirements and dynamic operation at the same time, each in IMO Tier III and EPA Tier 3 emission standards. For medium-duty applications, the portfolio includes outputs of 1,213 kW and 1,324 kW (1,650 hp and 1,800 hp), designed for IMO Tier II, IMO Tier III and EPA Tier 4. This means that MAN Engines offers solutions for different application profiles on a single engine platform, from on-board engines to diesel-electric systems and main drives.

Another focus of the trade fair appearance is the modular exhaust gas aftertreatment system from MAN Engines, consisting of a diesel particulate filter and SCR system. The solution enables compliance with EU Stage V in both generator operation and heavy-duty areas and is specifically designed for integration into maritime applications. The engine, exhaust gas aftertreatment and control system are developed as a coordinated and fully certified overall system in order to meet emission requirements with a high level of operational safety and efficient operation.

The modular exhaust gas aftertreatment system from MAN Engines has already proven itself in a wide range of maritime applications in different operating conditions. This experience forms the basis for robust, yet extremely compact solutions that both meet regulatory requirements and are operated reliably over the long term and are fully supported by the MAN service network.

With an MAN Genuine remanufactured engine, MAN Engines will also be showcasing its range of products and services in the field of engine reconditioning at SMM. Marine engines can also be remanufactured in the factory according to defined processes and restored to like-new condition. The range of services goes beyond classic repairs and includes the standardized remanufacturing of engines and components in compliance with MAN quality requirements. Therefore, the warranty conditions of a MAN Genuine remanufactured engine are the same as those of a new engine.

A study conducted with a MAN D2842 engine shows the potential of this approach: Compared to the production of a new engine, remanufacturing can save up to 72 percent CO₂. In addition, the reuse of components contributes to the reduction of material use and supports the resource-saving use of existing products.

With the exhibits on display, MAN Engines will be presenting a portfolio at SMM 2026 that addresses key requirements in the professional marine sector: reliable engines, integrated emission solutions and resource-saving service concepts. The focus is on a technologically coordinated system solution that offers operators and shipyards a long service life, flexibility and planning security over the entire life cycle.

MAN Engines will be exhibiting at SMM 2026 in Hamburg from 1 to 4 September in Hall A3, Stand A3.211, where it will present its expanded portfolio for professional maritime applications.

An on-board genset with a MAN D3872 for power generation can be seen at MAN customer and genset manufacturer Lindenberg-Anlagen at the neighboring booth A3.217.

Engines & Components

The special edition is based on the MAN TGX 18.560 4x2 tractor unit and combines the particularly efficient MAN PowerLion drivetrain, with its D30 engine and 560 hp, with equipment that has been consistently tailored to the wishes and requirements of professional drivers. The vehicle was developed in close collaboration with MAN's Truckers' World community, through which around 350 drivers took part in this special project.

The new driver-focused edition is aimed in particular at small and medium-sized haulage companies that want to offer their drivers a particularly high-quality working environment without having to carry out extensive customisation after vehicle delivery. The aim was therefore to create a vehicle that already combines many of the comfort, safety and design features requested by drivers straight from the factory.

"The Truck Grand Prix is a special date for us every year, because this is exactly where we meet the people we develop our vehicles for. That's why I'm particularly pleased that we can present our MAN TGX Truckers' Edition exclusively for the first time at the Nürburgring," says Stefan Schall, Managing Director Truck, Van & Used at MAN Truck & Bus Deutschland. "This is not an ordinary model, but the result of an intensive dialogue with our community. The design and equipment are directly informed by feedback from everyday driving and are the answer to the real requirements of long-haul transport."

Designed by drivers, for drivers

The starting point for the MAN TGX Truckers' Edition was a workshop with drivers from across Europe. Following a call-out within the MAN Truckers' World community, around 350 participants worked together to define their vision of the ideal long-haul truck. The focus here was not on the most extravagant conversions possible, but on a balanced combination of comfort, functionality, safety and cost-effectiveness.

The result is a MAN TGX with a GX cab, 560 hp and full air suspension. High levels of safety and cost-effectiveness are ensured by modern assistance systems such as MAN EfficientCruise with PredictiveDrive, which factors topography and route profile into the driving strategy ahead of time, the EBA Plus emergency brake assist with front detection, and the turning assistant. These systems help drivers in long-haul transport to save fuel, identify critical situations involving other road users at an early stage, and manoeuvre the vehicle safely even in urban environments.

High-performance efficiency for long-haul transport

At the heart of the MAN TGX Truckers' Edition is the MAN D30 in-line six-cylinder engine, delivering 560 hp and 2,800 Nm of torque. Developed jointly within the TRATON GROUP, the 13-litre engine achieves an efficiency of over 50 per cent and, together with the new MAN TipMatic 14 transmission, forms the MAN PowerLion drivetrain. Compared with the already highly economical predecessor model with the D26 engine, and combined with further optimised aerodynamics, it delivers fuel and CO₂ savings of around five per cent. The new driver edition thus combines strong performance, driving comfort and cost-effectiveness in a particularly compelling way.

A premium workplace for long distances

The needs of drivers were clearly at the centre of the equipment specification. Standard features of the MAN TGX Truckers' Edition include comfort seats with seat heating and climate control, the MAN ComfortSteering electronic steering system, an electric parking cooler, and extensive storage and stowage solutions. A 24-inch television, a wardrobe combination on the rear cab wall, and a specially developed TV recliner further enhance living comfort on long trips.

Practical features such as automatic fifth wheel coupling detection, the electronic fuel theft protection system, the MAN OptiView digital mirror replacement system and numerous assistance systems also support drivers in their daily work and make their jobs easier.

Distinctive design with a clear identity

The exterior appearance was also shaped by driver preferences. Characteristic features include front sections painted in the cab colour, a consistent avoidance of chrome trim, and numerous black design elements. These include a special black package, black wheel rims, a black sun visor, a roof bar with integrated LED light bar, and air horns for a distinctive sound.

For its market launch, the MAN TGX Truckers' Edition will be shown in the exclusive "Mojave Beige Metallic" paint finish. In general, however, the special edition will be available in various vehicle colours, allowing customers to match their vehicles to their company's branding.

Limited edition for Europe

The MAN TGX Truckers' Edition will be offered in European markets. Every vehicle is delivered with an exclusive package of additional equipment. This includes a CB radio with hands-free function, high-quality floor mats, a matching fitted sheet for the comfort bed, wind deflectors, and a leather jacket specially designed for this exclusive vehicle as a personal gift for the driver.

With the MAN TGX Truckers' Edition, MAN is making a clear statement of appreciation for the people behind the wheel. The special edition combines state-of-the-art drivetrain technology, high efficiency and maximum driver focus in a vehicle that was developed from the outset for those who keep Europe's flow of goods moving every day.

Truck

The existing framework agreement for the supply of MAN TGE vehicles has recently been extended by a further three years. Under the agreement, a potential of up to 600 vehicles may be ordered by the end of 2028. Established in 2019, the partnership currently covers Germany, Denmark, United Kingdom and Poland, with Spain added as the latest market. MAN TGE serves as the base vehicle for rescue and ambulance units, which are converted by local bodybuilders in the respective countries.

“TGE primarily provides ‘value for money’. Furthermore—and especially with the most recent updates—the technical level of the vehicles is really good and supports Falck’s ambitions in terms of safety and operational durability,” explains Michael Gade, Head of Fleet Sourcing & Equipment, Global Procurement at Falck, outlining the reasons for the successful collaboration.

Since the start of the collaboration, MAN has firmly established itself as a high-performance partner vehicle in the ambulance sector. The success of the concept is particularly evident in Spain: by working closely with four leading Spanish body manufacturers and providing intensive customer support, MAN has steadily strengthened its market presence in a highly competitive environment. As a result, MAN Truck & Bus Iberia increased its sales of ambulance vehicles to more than 335 units in 2025 - – Falck’s orders have also played a significant part in this.

Thomas Herzog, Head of International Key Account Management Van at MAN Truck & Bus, highlights key factors behind the success of the MAN TGE as an ambulance and emergency vehicle: “Our many years of experience in International Key Account Management, combined with the joint development of tailor-made solutions for customers like Falck make a decisive difference. This ensures smooth processes and a complete vehicle that delivers both in terms of quality and functionality. Close cooperation with body manufacturers enables us to create solutions that provide real operational value for our customers. That is precisely what MAN stands for.”

Falck is one of the world’s leading providers of healthcare and emergency services, operating in more than 25 countries. In Europe, emergency medical services form one of the company’s core business areas. In Germany alone, Falck carries out more than 300.000 operations each year, providing emergency rescue services, patient transport, as well as fire and fire-protection services. With a global workforce of more than 25.000 employees, Falck relies on highly specialized teams and robust operational structures to ensure rapid and reliable medical care.

With the extension of the framework agreement, MAN Truck & Bus and Falck are laying the groundwork for the joint development of further markets. At the same time, the partnership enables the requirements of modern emergency services to be incorporated at an early stage into future vehicle concepts.

Van

The vehicles are being deployed for the first time in the transport of supplier parts to its plants (inbound traffic) between supplier locations in Hungary and MAN production plants in Germany.

The vehicles are used on both direct routes and consolidated transport services via central transhipment points. On the route between Lébény (Hungary) and Munich (approximately 520 km per leg), the vehicles operate using a so-called relay system: two trucks travel towards each other and swap their trailers en route. These are full truckload (FTL) services, where an entire customer consignment is transported without intermediate stops. A further vehicle handles transport from the logistics centre in Győr, Hungary, delivering consolidated goods to MAN plants, primarily in Munich.

In addition, three eTGX trucks are deployed via the logistics centre in Kirkel, Germany. From there, deliveries from France, Spain/Portugal, and the United Kingdom/Ireland are transported primarily to the plants in Munich (approx. 400 km) and Nuremberg (approx. 350 km).

"By deploying the eTGX in our own production logistics, we are demonstrating – together with strong partners – that zero-emission heavy-duty transport already works in real-world operations today," says Michael Kobriger, Executive Board Member for Production & Logistics at MAN Truck & Bus. "We are consistently driving the transformation forward – both for our customers and within our own network."

Electrification of Inbound Logistics Gaining Momentum

These measures form part of a comprehensive transformation programme to decarbonise supply chains in inbound logistics. Since autumn 2024, MAN has been working on the step-by-step integration of battery-electric trucks into its own logistics network. In total, trucks cover up to 165 million kilometres per year in MAN's inbound operations. The aim is to have around 50 vehicles in service for inbound transport by mid-2026, while simultaneously continuing to expand the charging infrastructure at MAN plants and service branches. A significant number of routes across several European countries are already electrified or in preparation. This approach is supported by MAN Transport Solutions: through a holistic 360-degree consulting service, customers are assisted in making the switch to electric mobility – from duty-cycle analysis and charging infrastructure through to integration into existing operational processes.

In parallel, vehicle delivery is also being further decarbonised as part of the "Electrifying Outbound" initiative – with the goal of reducing CO₂ emissions by 30 per cent by 2030.

Collaboration with JS Logistics as a Real-World Example

The handover of the five MAN eTGX trucks took place at the MAN Truck Forum in Munich, where Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales & Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus, presented the vehicles to Jerome Schüssler, Owner and Managing Director of JS Logistics. The vehicles are now in daily logistics operation.

"Integrating the fully electric MAN eTGX into our transport processes is a milestone for our company," says Jerome Schüssler. "Together with MAN, we are shaping sustainable logistics solutions and gaining valuable experience in cross-border electric mobility operations."

About JS Logistics

J.S.
Charging the future at record speed: MAN achieves 3,000 amperes for the first time in NEFTON project

This result marks a major advance for megawatt charging and expands the future operating possibilities of battery-electric commercial vehicles.

The series of tests carried out on test benches at the Technical University of Munich and at the Fraunhofer ISE institute in Freiburg has delivered robust data on the thermal behavior, switching components, cooling systems, and safety architecture of a charging path that could enable charging capacities of up to three megawatts (MW) in the future.

The charging performance achieved in the NEFTON project addresses a key objective of the industry: charging times must be compatible with operational processes. This brings closer a scenario in which an eTruck can recharge enough energy for a range of 400 km within 10 to 15 minutes. This progress could become particularly relevant when charging is not possible during legally required driving breaks. Transport tasks that, due to operational planning, begin without overnight charging also benefit from very high charging capacities, as the truck can return to operation quickly. In addition, operations involving two-driver teams create situations in which downtime must be kept as short as possible. In the longer term, there is also the potential to reduce battery sizes if extremely fast intermediate charging can be carried out several times per day.

To achieve charging capacities in the megawatt range, key components were newly designed in the NEFTON 3000 project. The current path was optimized to minimize electrical resistance, as high currents generate significant heat losses. The liquid cooling of cables, connectors, and distribution units was designed to ensure that all components operate within permissible temperature ranges and can meet the high thermal and electrical requirements. Contactors and shutdown devices were designed for high switching capacities while complying with safety requirements. In addition, great emphasis was placed on vehicle-suitable integration that equally considers installation, weight, and safety.

However, for charging capacities well above one megawatt to become a reality in the future, a new generation of battery systems would first need to be developed that is specifically designed for high charging capacities. Cell chemistry, module design, and electrical interconnection would need to be optimized to efficiently absorb and process high currents. Adjustments would also be required on the infrastructure side.

The NEFTON project consortium consists of MAN Truck & Bus, AVL, the Technical University of Munich, Fraunhofer ISE, Prettl Electronics Automotive, the Research Center for Energy Economics, and Deggendorf Institute of Technology. The project was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and supported by the DLR project management agency. In July 2024, an MAN eTGX with a charging capacity of one megawatt was already presented as an important milestone in the NEFTON project; now the charging capacity on the test bench has been significantly increased once again.

After completion of the project, the TRATON Group will continue the work. The insights gained will flow into the further development of near-production high-current charging paths as well as into studies on bidirectional functions and MCS charging with up to 3,000 amperes.

Further information on the project can be found at: www.nefton.de

Research & Development,E-Mobility,Corporate
