- The two TGX EfficientLine trucks are saving 2.9 and 2.7 litres per 100 km.
- Tour blog draws over 10,000 visitors.
After eleven stops in Eastern Europe, Austria, Italy and Germany, the Tour reaches its most northerly point in Copenhagen today. The odometers are reading around 5,700 kilometres. The MAN TGX EfficientLine trucks 1 und 2 are saving on average 2.9 and 2.7 litres per hundred kilometres respectively, relative to the reference vehicle. The Tour subsequently heads for the south of Europe - France, Spain and Portugal - with some of the stages being over 700 kilometres long.
With the "Consistently Efficient" Tour 2011 through 20 major European cities in ten countries, MAN is providing comprehensive information on the subject of transport efficiency and demonstrating how companies can effectively reduce the cost of operating their fleets of commercial vehicles while at the same time making a contribution to environmental protection. On the Tour, two MAN TGX EfficientLine trucks are out to show that up to three litres of fuel per hundred kilometres can be saved in long-haul transport under everyday conditions. The trucks and trailers, which weigh exactly 38.5 tonnes and are powered by 440-hp engines, will have put more than 10,000 kilometres behind them by the end of the Tour on June 17.
The MAN TGX EfficientLine is a semitrailer tractor designed with the rigorous reduction of the total costs of ownership in mind. MAN proves here that no technically complex measures are needed to save up to three litres of diesel fuel per hundred kilometres in long-haul transport. The TGX EfficientLine is designed for optimum aerodynamics, no compromises: side cladding is obligatory, compressed-air horns or externally mounted sun visors are taboo. Top speed is restricted to 85 km/h. Air Pressure Management, daytime running lights and a new Intarder generation save energy. A ProfiDrive® economy training is part of the package so that the fuel-saving technology of the EfficientLine is utilised to the full.
Every stage of the "Consistently Efficient" Tour is also being blogged. At www.blog.consistently-efficient.com the routes, altitude profiles and consumption values are shown transparently for all the vehicles. The blog is not just about figures, though: impressions of the Tour and the opportunity of contacting the experts offer visitors to the site added value.
The „Consistently Efficient“ Tour 2011 runs more than 10.000 km through 10 European countries. From May 16 to June 17 three fully loaded MAN TGX trucks with special trailers are visiting 20 MAN Centers, where efficiency experts are offering advice to customers and the interested public on how to improve transport efficiency.
