The metropolises of Paris and Berlin opt for MAN city buses
- A further 200 MAN double-deckers to Berlin, six to Lausanne
- Parisian RATP orders 186 articulated buses
- Delivery of order for over 400 city buses for Dubai commences
Following deliveries of 200 vehicles by the end of 2007, the Berlin transport authority (BVG) has ordered a further 200 MAN Lion’s City DD double-decker buses. The new order should be completed by 2010 and is worth about € 80 million. The MAN Lion’s City DD is one of the new completely low-floor double-decker generation for Berlin, which has been at home on the streets of Berlin since 2004. The Lion’s City DD won the renowned iF Award for its exceptional design in 2006. Deliveries will commence in the course of 2008.
At the end of 2007 six double-deckers were also sold for the first time to the city of Lausanne in Switzerland. In 2007 twenty- two NEOPLAN Centroliner GL articulated buses with a regulated CRTec® particulate filter had already been delivered here.
The French capital Paris has also opted for innovative MAN city buses. MAN Camion & Bus France has won its biggest order to date on the French market; it is worth approximately € 60 million. The Paris transport authority (RATP) has ordered 186 of the modern low-floor MAN Lion’s City articulated buses. Some of these vehicles will be put into service on the prestigious route from the Paris airport Charles de Gaulle to the Paris opera. In 2007 fifteen new Lion’s City G buses had already been delivered. These are fitted with a translucent concertina section from the supplier ContiTech, which now also provides more light in the interior of all the new buses and hence makes for a pleasant atmosphere. All of MAN’s city buses are powered by modern common-rail diesel engines without urea additives in accordance with the MANPURE DIESEL® principle.
In spring 2007 the large order for over 400 NEOPLAN city buses for Dubai, for which deliveries are currently beginning, caused quite a stir in the trade. The first twenty solo buses were delivered to the customer in February. Specially developed for Dubai, the new NEOPLAN Centroliner DD is over 4.50 m high and fitted with a 50 kW air-conditioner. It will be delivered in May together with the first articulated buses. 170 of the new double-deckers alone have been ordered. The Bus Division expects to have good changes for the next tender in Dubai too.
RATP Paris ordered 186 MAN Lion's City G and GL citybuses for the public traffic in Paris end of 2007. The modern MAN PURE DIESEL engines offer Euro 4 standard or even better.
The new MAN Lion's City DD has been delivered 200 times to the city of Berlin until 2007. At the same time the deal for 200 more vehicles has been fixed to be delivered until 2010. MAN and its predecessor company Buessing deliver such buses and Chassis since more than 80 years.
These MAN Lion’s City DD are part of the new generation of completely low-floor double-deckers for Berlin that have been plying the city's streets since 2004.
