The event, held at John G Russell (Transport) Ltd (Russell Group) Coatbridge railhead depot, showcased the company's new MCS Megawatt Charging facility to a crowd of 50 people, including representatives from both the Scottish and UK governments, ZENFreight (Zero Emission National Freight), InnovateUK (the UK's innovation agency) OAL Limited and Scottish Futures Trust.  

Speaking at this momentous event, Stephen Madden, Russell Group Fleet Engineer, said: “As an operator, our drive to become a net-zero company by 2040 is more than a strapline; it’s a cornerstone of our business model and is underpinned by our Environmental Policy and Sustainability Strategy.”

“Last week, with one of our new MCS equipped MAN eTGX tractors, we publicly demonstrated the future of electric vehicle charging in Scotland. With MCS charging, our vehicle charging times have dropped drastically, and, as a result, our vehicle uptime has improved significantly.”

Stephen added, “Not only is this a major benefit for us, in terms of increasing our fleet availability and uptime, but it’s also a huge positive for our customers, as our zero-emission vehicles will be more readily available to make sustainable deliveries and, in doing so, positively impact the environment.”      

John G Russell (Transport) Ltd (Russell Group) took delivery of their first MAN eTGX 4x2 tractors in September 2025. In December 2025, two additional eTGX tractors joined the fleet. Today, thanks to a sustained and eager drive to become more environmentally sustainable, the instantly recogniable fleet operates four MAN all-electric trucks. In early 2027, this number will have grown to 14.

This new vehicle, an eTGX 20.544 4x2 tractor, is powered by a permanently excited synchronous motor delivering 400 kW (544 PS) and 1,250 Nm of torque. It is paired with 6 x 80 kWh (480 kWh) batteries, a central drive unit that drives a 4-speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission and, via a propshaft, a traditional axle. For ease of use, it features an MCS charging connection on the kerbside and a CCS charging point on the driver's side.

“These latest MAN MCS-equipped vehicles, with MCS charging capability, can charge their batteries from 20 to 90 percent in just 30 minutes, which is fast enough to fit within the statutory 45-minute driver's break, or turnaround. With this groundbreaking technology, our goal is to become an industry-leading reference point for sustainability and alternative fuels in the road transport sector.” Concluded Stephen.

Megawatt Charging is a high-power charging system engineered for heavy-duty electric vehicles. Unlike standard EV chargers, which typically provide up to 350 kW, MCS can deliver up to 3,75 megawatts (MW) of power. This massive increase in power output enables rapid charging of vehicles with very large battery capacities, such as trucks, significantly reducing downtime and making electric vehicles more viable for long-distance travel. The MCS Megawatt Charging System uses a specially designed connector capable of handling the high voltage, up to 1.250 volts, and current, up to 3.000 amps, required for megawatt-level charging.

MAN’s production of MCS-compatible eTGX and eTGS models began in the second quarter of 2026.

Now in its 52nd year, the Emergency Fleet Exhibition and the National Association of Police Fleet Managers (NAPFM) Conference is one of the largest emergency service fleet events in Europe. The AA has unveiled the latest generation of its iconic yellow recovery trucks, with 36 new MAN TGM 15.250 vehicles joining Britain's largest breakdown fleet.

Developed by AA Fleet Engineering alongside MAN Truck & Bus, Boniface Engineering and Dyson, the new trucks combine MAN's latest chassis technology with bespoke recovery bodies built to unique AA specification. The fleet build is shared between Boniface and Roger Dyson, ensuring every vehicle delivers the same high standard of performance and reliability.

Rather than simply replacing existing vehicles, The AA has worked closely with its recovery patrol force to design a new fleet that reflects the realities of roadside recovery, and the practical challenges patrols face every day.

All round vision

Built on MAN's 5,475mm wheelbase TGM 15.250 chassis and featuring the factory six-seater DN crew cab (driver plus five passengers), the trucks feature the manufacturer's innovative OptiView digital mirror replacement system, which replaces conventional mirrors with high-definition cameras to improve visibility and reduce blind spots.

A comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems is complemented by the latest Redtronic emergency lighting and new high-point amber LED warning lights mounted on the recovery body. Positioned at the highest point of the recovery frame when the slide bed is deployed, the lights help approaching drivers spot the truck from further away.

Practical engineering has been just as important as new technology. Working with Boniface Engineering, the AA Fleet team supported the development of a modular recovery bed roller system that allows the fibre rollers to be replaced quickly if damaged.

Reducing recovery vehicle workshop time and keeping them available to assist AA members at the roadside is always a high priority.

In addition, new lightweight storage lockers also improve equipment organisation and day-to-day usability for patrols.

“The MAN TGL 15 250 crew cab is the ideal chassis for their frontline recovery rescue chassis, very up to date ideally suitable for the Dyson Hydraloader SLa super low approach steel slidebed platform, giving a real combination of chassis and recovery systems working in harmony producing an outstanding vehicle for reliability, ease of operation and creating a very competent combination of chassis and body systems working together in harmony.”

Patrol and member safety has influenced every aspect of the new design. Front and rear passengers exit via the nearside of the vehicle only, reducing the risk of stepping into live traffic during roadside recoveries.

Inside, the crew cab has been designed for colleagues who can spend long shifts attending to broken-down members. These features include air-suspended heated seats, automatic transmission, climate control, a walk-through cab and an upgraded digital cockpit.

To support The AA's broader sustainability ambitions, all 36 vehicles are approved to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) when operationally required.

The first vehicle in the new fleet carries the prestigious AA 3 registration and has been allocated to current Recovery Patrol of the Year, Megan Tench.

Megan said: "These big yellow trucks are famous for helping AA members get to where they need to be, whatever the time of day, and I know just how much work has gone into making this latest generation the best it can be.

"I'm incredibly proud to be the first patrol to receive one and I'm looking forward to seeing how these innovations make day-to-day life even better while helping us continue delivering the service our members expect."

. Pioneer: MAN is the first European manufacturer to produce MCS-equipped eTrucks in series production

At MAN Truck & Bus, the first series-produced eTruck equipped with the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) has rolled off the assembly line. With this vehicle, MAN is the first manufacturer in Europe to bring the new commercial-vehicle-specific charging technology into practical operation, creating the conditions for significantly shorter charging times in battery-electric road freight transport. The first MCS-ready MAN eTrucks will be delivered step by step to customers in Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the Czech Republic. By doing so, MAN is already providing its customers with the eTrucks of tomorrow while simultaneously supporting the development of a powerful ecosystem of vehicles and charging infrastructure.

MCS enables significantly higher charging capacities than the currently established Combined Charging System (CCS). While CCS currently allows charging capacities of up to 375 kW for MAN eTrucks, MCS-equipped vehicles can achieve charging capacities of up to 750 kW, with up to 1,000 amps and up to 750 volts. As a result, charging times are considerably reduced. Charging the battery from 20% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in a MAN eTGX or MAN eTGS with six batteries and a total battery capacity of 534 kWh takes less than 30 minutes using MCS technology. Even with the seven-battery configuration available for chassis vehicles, providing a total capacity of 623 kWh, charging to 80% SoC takes less than 40 minutes using MCS. This means that eTrucks can be recharged during legally required driver break periods. Customers benefit from reduced downtime, improved vehicle utilisation and greater operational flexibility. With ranges of up to 570 kilometres between charging stops in a typical long-haul tractor-semitrailer configuration, daily ranges exceeding 1,000 kilometres can be achieved within the same working time as with a diesel truck.

“The MCS ecosystem is currently at an important stage of market introduction. Vehicles, charging infrastructure and IT backend systems are evolving dynamically and hand in hand. With the first MCS vehicles, MAN is actively helping to establish the new charging standard in Europe and further strengthen interoperability throughout the overall system,” says Roman Sitte, Head of Sales Area Europe at MAN Truck & Bus.

To ensure the smooth ramp-up of the new technology, MAN is working closely with relevant charging infrastructure manufacturers. In principle, the MAN eTGX and eTGS are designed to meet the requirements of different charging infrastructures. In addition to the front-left MCS charging position, the vehicles can optionally be equipped with additional CCS charging points at the front-right position and, for chassis vehicles, at the rear on both the left and right sides. This positioning of the charging ports facilitates use at both public and private charging stations and improves accessibility across various locations.

As part of its 360° eMobility consulting services, MAN Transport Solutions already takes available and planned MCS charging stations into account in order to optimally plan long-haul eTruck operations for customers. In addition, through the MAN Charge&Go offering, customers can conveniently and cost-effectively charge their batteries across Europe at MCS and CCS charging points that have been specifically tested and approved for eTruck requirements.

The 2026 MAN Off-Road Experience, based at Tixover Quarry, near Stamford, gives visiting truck and van customers the opportunity to get behind the wheel and test drive MAN vehicles from 3.5 to 32 tonnes in challenging real-world conditions.

Fitted ex-factory with an electrohydraulic lift-and-steer rear tag axle, the TGS 8x2 features a rear axle that helps reduce turning circles and maximise manoeuvrability when delivering to sites with limited access. Ideal for machinery movers, bulk blower applications, specialist crane operators, highway maintenance providers, and the like, the MAN TGS 8x2 is making its debut at a MAN ride and drive event.

The lighter and more compact TGM 4x2 offers construction-focused customers an easy-to-body, lightweight chassis suitable for a wide range of applications. Powered by MAN’s 250 PS (184 kW) D08 six-cylinder engine and plated at 18 tonnes GVW.

MAN Truck & Bus’s Van Division and international emergency services provider Falck Danmark A/S are continuing their long-standing partnership. The existing framework agreement for the supply of MAN TGE vehicles has recently been extended by a further three years. Under the agreement, a potential of up to 600 vehicles may be ordered by the end of 2028. Established in 2019, the partnership currently covers Germany, Denmark, United Kingdom and Poland, with Spain added as the latest market. MAN TGE serves as the base vehicle for rescue and ambulance units, which are converted by local bodybuilders in the respective countries. 

“TGE primarily provides ‘value for money’. Furthermore—and especially with the most recent updates—the technical level of the vehicles is really good and supports Falck’s ambitions in terms of safety and operational durability,” explains Michael Gade, Head of Fleet Sourcing & Equipment, Global Procurement at Falck, outlining the reasons for the successful collaboration. 

Since the start of the collaboration, MAN has firmly established itself as a high-performance partner vehicle in the ambulance sector. The success of the concept is particularly evident in Spain: by working closely with four leading Spanish body manufacturers and providing intensive customer support, MAN has steadily strengthened its market presence in a highly competitive environment. As a result, MAN Truck & Bus Iberia increased its sales of ambulance vehicles to more than 335 units in 2025 - – Falck’s orders have also played a significant part in this.

With the extension of the framework agreement, MAN Truck & Bus and Falck are laying the groundwork for the joint development of further markets. At the same time, the partnership enables the requirements of modern emergency services to be incorporated at an early stage into future vehicle concepts. 

Since 2019, the company has reduced greenhouse gas emissions at its sites (Scopes 1 and 2) by 67.9 per cent. MAN is thereby approaching its Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)-validated goal of reducing site-related emissions by 70 per cent compared to 2019 levels by 2030. This is according to the company's newly published Sustainability Report. The reduction is the result of a consistent transition in energy supply, infrastructure, and production processes.

MAN has increased its share of renewable energy through self-generation, long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and the procurement of certified green electricity. Photovoltaic installations are being expanded across sites. In Munich, MAN is also preparing for the construction of a geothermal energy facility in order to progressively replace fossil-based heat and sustainably improve the greenhouse gas balance at its largest production site. In addition, the company is systematically modernising energy-intensive equipment and implementing further efficiency programmes in production. The increasing electrification of the company's own corporate vehicle fleet also contributes to the reduction of emissions.

Electrification of the Product Portfolio

The Sustainability Report 2025 shows that over 95 per cent of MAN's greenhouse gas emissions arise during the use phase of its vehicles. The fleet GHG output per vehicle kilometre of MAN-sold trucks, buses, and vans (Scope 3, Category 11) is to be reduced by 28 per cent compared to 2019 by 2030. Accordingly, the decarbonisation strategy is consistently focused on the electrification of the vehicle portfolio. In the 2025 reporting year, a reduction of 16 per cent compared to 2019 was achieved in this area.

With the start of series production of the battery-electric trucks MAN eTGX and MAN eTGS at the Munich site, the transition from testing to scaling has been completed. In 2025, MAN already sold more than 620 electric trucks, thereby supporting numerous transport and logistics companies in reducing their transport emissions.

MAN is also recording strong growth in the bus segment: fully electric city and intercity buses are in operation in many European cities. In 2025, sales of electric service buses rose by 118 per cent to more than 1,300 vehicles – a new record. With the MAN Lion's Coach E, the company is extending its electric offering into the coach travel sector for the first time. The first battery-electric MAN coaches are expected to be delivered to customers across Europe by the end of 2026.

Overall, MAN increased sales of fully electric vehicles in 2025 by 168 per cent to 1,970 units. By 2030, approximately 40 per cent of MAN vehicles sold in Europe are to be fully electric. 

Decarbonisation of Own Transport Processes

MAN is also driving the gradual electrification of its inbound logistics and, in 2025, issued tenders for the deployment of battery-electric trucks on an initial approximately 40 routes covering up to 165 million kilometres annually. Series operation has been under way since the beginning of this year.

In outbound logistics, MAN is working together with logistics partner VEGA International on an intermodal concept combining rail transport for the main haul and the MAN eTGX for the "last mile". By the end of 2026, a further 30 to 40 fully electric trucks are to be deployed in vehicle delivery operations.

"The greatest lever for climate action lies in vehicle operation – and that is precisely where we are accelerating electrification. At the same time, we are demonstrating within our own sphere of influence that we deliver on our commitments: at our company sites, we have reduced emissions by 67.9 per cent since 2019. And we are also electrifying our own transport processes – from inbound to outbound. This is how we make climate action measurable: in business operations, in the use phase, and along the value chain," explains Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus.

MAN Truck & Bus is celebrating the tenth anniversary of its MAN TGE van. Since its world premiere in 2016, the model has become a key pillar in the Munich-based commercial vehicle manufacturer’s portfolio. To mark the occasion, MAN is launching a country-specific “10 Years Edition”: it is now available to order in all participating markets and combines selected premium features in an attractive package. The special edition makes entry into the TGE world even easier. Each participating market has created its own tailored version to bundle equipment that is locally relevant for customers. Distinctive features of the edition across all countries include “10 Years Edition” badges in the radiator grille and on the steering wheel.

“I’ve been proud and delighted to see the TGE gain more and more importance at MAN over the past ten years. Thanks to our highly trained service and sales teams, stronger integration within the MAN organization, and an outstanding product, we were able to grow to more than 30,000 units sold in 2025,” says Daniel Holbein, Head of Business Unit Van at MAN Truck & Bus.

The MAN TGE marked a strategic milestone for MAN Truck & Bus in 2016. With its debut at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show, MAN expanded its lineup into the 3.0 to 5.5 tonne gross vehicle weight segment, positioning itself as a full-range provider from vans to heavy trucks. From the very beginning, the MAN van’s strengths were clear: genuine commercial vehicle DNA, robust and modern engineering, and services and vehicle concepts consistently tailored to professional requirements. This combination still defines the TGE today.

With the start of series production in spring 2017 at the Września plant in Poland and its gradual rollout across Europe, MAN laid the foundation for the model’s success. From early on, the TGE stood out for its wide range of variants, from panel vans with two wheelbases and three roof heights, to chassis cabs with single or double cabs, all the way to industry-specific body solutions. At the same time, MAN transferred key elements from its truck business into the van segment, including the in-house customization program MAN Individual and its bodybuilder management.

In the years that followed, the versatility of the platform became increasingly clear. During the COVID-19 pandemic, mobile diagnostic vehicles based on the TGE were developed, enabling decentralized testing infrastructure. At the same time, MAN expanded its passenger transport offering, completing its minibus portfolio with the MAN TGE Coach and MAN TGE Intercity models. Growing production volumes underlined the TGE’s success, with the milestone of 100,000 units produced already reached in 2023.

In mid-2024, the “truck among vans” took a major technological leap with the 2025 model year, known as “Next Level.” A new electronic architecture, enhanced driver assistance systems, and a completely redesigned cockpit significantly improve safety, usability, and digital connectivity. For improving driver working conditions and enhancing the protection of other road users, the MAN TGE Next Level was awarded the “Sustainable Van of the Year 2026” by the Italian publishing house Vado e Torno Edizioni.

To mark its 10th anniversary, MAN is also emphasizing the importance of its service offering. A dense service network, the MAN Mobile24 roadside assistance service, and tailored maintenance and repair solutions ensure that vehicles remain ready for operation in everyday use.

MAN eTGL 12.285 4x2 BL CH Electric Rigid

Showcased for the first time in the UK, in Right Hand Drive (RHD) configuration and after making its World Premiere at Solutrans (Lyon) in 2025, new MAN eTGL rounds off MAN's electric truck portfolio, spanning 12 to 44 tonnes.

With a permissible gross weight of 12 tonnes and a chassis payload of up to 6.6 tonnes (depending on the body), the MAN eTGL provides significant reserves for a wide range of applications.  

With a usable battery capacity of 160 kWh, the MAN eTGL offers a range of up to 310 kilometres without intermediate charging, depending on use – more than sufficient for typical daily deliveries in urban and regional distribution transport. Innovative fast-charging technology can recharge the batteries from 10 to 80 percent in around 35 minutes. This makes optimal use of break and unloading times and increases the daily range up to 600 kilometres. 

Using a permanently excited synchronous motor with power outputs of 210 kW (285 PS) and 800 Nm, connected to a 2 Speed MAN TipMatic® automated Transmission and a central drive unit with rear wheel drive, this eTGL comes fitted with 2 x 80 kWh batteries. Charging Connection is via the CCS connector on the vehicle's front left-hand side.  

To help maximise both payload and available chassis space, this 4.2 metre wheelbase eTGL is fitted with a compact 2.24 metre wide CC Day cab. Finished in Arctic Blue Metallic, it includes creature comforts such as the MAN Professional Navigation Media System with a 12.3” display, Smartphone integration, Multifunction steering wheel, Comfort driver's seat with air suspension, lumbar support, and shoulder adjustment, and Climatronic air conditioning.

Driver Assistance Systems include Cruise Control, Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Lane Change Support, Turn Assist, Front Detection and a Reversing Motion System.

Front and rear axle capacities are 4700 kg and 8700 kg, respectively.

MAN TGX 26.480 6x2/2 BL SA EfficientLine+ Midlift Tractor – a vehicle specified to help aid efficiency

Debuting in the UK at RTX 2026 is the new MAN TGX EfficientLine+ tractor, a vehicle designed to help operators maximise their fleet efficiency.

MAN EfficientLine+ (often associated with the flagship TGX series) is a factory-configured, fuel-saving package specifically designed to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for long-haul transport. The EfficientLine+ concept delivers significant diesel savings through optimised aerodynamics, reduced vehicle weight, and smart software.

In a comparison, the TGX 26.480 6x2/2 BL SA EfficientLine+ Midlift Tractor has shown up to 8 percent fuel savings compared with a standard TGX 26.480 6x2/2 BL SA, which can translate into annual fuel cost reductions of up to £6,600 GBP, based on 150,000 km per year.

The EfficientLine+ draws on a package of factory options, all proven to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. These features include MAN OptiView mirror replacement, an energy-saving compressor, top-grade A-label tyres, a new Aero front bumper, and a speed limiter set to 85 km/h.

MAN OptiView not only improves the driver's view of the surrounding area but also improves the vehicle's aerodynamic performance by reducing frontal drag, therefore increasing fuel efficiency.

The MAN Energy-saving compressor is designed to supply the vehicle with compressed air only when the system pressure falls below a specific threshold. When the reservoir is full, it switches to idle mode, thereby reducing engine load and unnecessary energy consumption.

A-label tyres are fitted to all axles of the MAN TGX EfficientLine+. Since 2012, all EU tyres have received a rating based on three points of criteria – wet grip performance, fuel efficiency, and external noise. This rating measures how much energy is required to keep the tire moving. An "A" rating tyre is proven to use less fuel and produce fewer emissions.

MANs Aero front bumper is designed to improve airflow from the front of the vehicle when traveling at higher speeds on motorways and dual carriageways, thereby reducing drag, enhancing aerodynamics, and further increasing fuel efficiency. The new Aero front bumper, featuring a 50 mm extension, sees changes to the front grille and bumper, a new intake shape, and a deeper, more rounded design.

Speed limiter set to 85 km/h. Having a vehicle's speed limiter set to a maximum of 85 km/h (53 mph) is known to help save fuel and therefore reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

This TGX 26.480 6x2/2 EfficientLine+ Midlift Tractor is powered by MAN's D26 12.4 litre, 6 cylinder, Euro VI OBD-E engine, which delivers 480 PS (353 kW) and 2450 Nm, and is mounted to a 12 Speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission.

Sitting atop the 2600 mm wheelbase chassis is a GM Medium roof sleeper cab painted in MAN Titanium Silver. Once behind the wheel, the driver is greeted by MAN's Professional Navigation Media System with a 12.3” display, an Advanced sound system with a subwoofer, MAN SmartSelect infotainment control with a touchpad and direct-access buttons, and Smartphone integration.

Making the miles fly by, the driver sits relaxed in a Comfort driver's seat with air suspension, lumbar support, and shoulder adjustment, a Multifunction leather steering wheel, MAN EasyControl, Climatronic air conditioning, a fully retractable under-bunk fridge, and, to maximise space for single occupancy, a single bunk featuring a 110 mm pocket-sprung mattress.

To ensure a safe journey for both the driver and other third-party road users, this vehicle is equipped with an array of driver assistance systems, including Cruise control, MAN EfficientCruise with PredictiveDrive, Turn Assist, Front Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, Reversing Motion System, and MANs Distance Warning System.

Plated at 44 tonnes GVW, the front, mid, and rear axle capacities are 8000 kg, 7100 kg, and 11500 kg, respectively.

MAN TGX 26.640 6x2/2 Limited “Eclipse Edition” flagship TGX tractor - A TGX special to set hearts and minds racing

MAN TGS 35.540 8x2-6 BL CH 8x2 Rigid

New to the MAN UK truck model portfolio, the MAN TGS 8x2 rigid is the ideal vehicle for customers who require a GVW of 32 tonnes and a tighter turning circle than a traditional 8x4.

Fitted ex-factory with electrohydraulic steering and a lifting rear tag axle, the TGS 8x2 features a rear axle that helps reduce turning circles and, at the same time, maximise maneuverability when delivering to sites with limited access. Ideal for machinery movers, bulk blower applications, specialist crane operators, highway maintenance providers, and the like, the MAN TGS 8x2 is making its debut on a MAN Truck & Bus UK show stand.

Powered by MANs much-acclaimed D26 12.4 litre, Euro VI OBD-E 6 cylinder engine, which produces 540 PS (397 kW) and 2,650 Nm of torque, and paired with a 12 speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission, this vehicle offers a 32000 kg GVW and, when used with a trailer, a 44,000 tonne gross combination weight.

Offered with a 4105 mm wheelbase, this RTX show TGS 8x2 sits on steel leaf-spring front suspension and air suspension on both rear axles. It comes with a TM Medium roof sleeper cab, factory-painted in Anthracite Metallic.

MAN TGE 3.140 4X2F SB 10 Year Edition 

This Special Edition vehicle has been specified to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MAN TGEs entry into the European market. First debuted as a World premiere at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hannover in September 2016, the TGE is now seen throughout the UK, operating in large blue-chip company fleets, family-owned businesses, and single-vehicle operator liveries.

MAN eTGX 20.544 4x2 BL SA EB Electric Tractor

MAN Truck & Bus is delighted to present the battery-powered eTGX 4x2 20.544 4x2 BL SA EB Electric 4x2 Tractor.

This fully electric 4x2 tractor offers customers and operators a 42,000 kg Gross Combination Weight (GCW) solution that promises to drive down emissions.

Driven by a permanently excited synchronous motor that delivers 400 kW (544 PS) of power and 1,250 Nm of torque, this vehicle's charging capacity is set at 375 kW DC. For ease of use, it features CCS charging connection points on both the left and right front sides.

Housed on the chassis are 6 x 80 kWh (480 kWh) batteries that power a central drive unit and a 4 Speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission, which in turn drives the rear axle. To increase payload and ensure parts and service commonality, the MAN eTruck uses the same rear axle as the equivalent diesel (ICE) models.

This vehicle’s 4x2 wheelbase measures 3,750 mm, and it boasts a 9000 kg front axle and an 11,500 kg rear axle. In line with UK regulations, its GCW (Gross Combination Weight) is set at 42,000 kg. Front suspension is leaf spring, and rear suspension is air.

This fully electric eTGX 4x2 tractor offers customers and operators a 42,000 kg Gross Combination Weight (GCW) solution that helps reduce emissions.

Driven by a permanently excited synchronous motor that delivers 400 kW (544 PS) of power and 1,250 Nm of torque, this vehicle's charging capacity is set at 375 kW DC. For ease of use, it features CCS charging connection points on both the left and right front sides.

Housed on the chassis are 6 x 80 kWh (480 kWh) batteries that power a central drive unit and a 4 Speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission, which in turn drives the rear axle. To increase payload and ensure parts and service commonality, the MAN eTruck uses the same rear axle as the equivalent diesel (ICE) models.

Established in 1984 with a single truck and ten skips, Willshee’s Waste & Recycling now operates from two state-of-the-art recycling centres, in Burton on Trent and Swadlincote and boasts a large fleet of latest-generation vehicles. With second-generation family members heavily involved, Willshee’s has grown into the largest independent waste and recycling company in the UK.

With its permissible gross weight of 16.01 tonnes (optionally 16.5 tonnes) and a chassis payload of up to around 10.6 tonnes, the MAN eTGM offers significant reserves for a wide range of bodies. As an all-electric truck in the over 16-tonne segment, customers in many European markets benefit from significant toll advantages.

At the same time, the use of the MAN eTGM enables a significant reduction in fleet emissions and supports transport companies in meeting regulatory requirements such as the EU CO₂ fleet targets for heavy commercial vehicles.

The MAN eTGM is consistently designed to meet the requirements of urban and regional distribution transport. Rising energy prices, stricter emission regulations and increasing noise restrictions make electrically powered commercial vehicles an economically and ecologically attractive alternative, especially in inner-city use. This is exactly where the new eTGM comes in – with a high payload, trailer operation with a gross combination weight of up to 33 tonnes, great operational flexibility and a particularly efficient electric drive train.

Unified eTruck concept – developed for broad variety of applications

Like all MAN eTrucks, the eTGM is also based on the standardised, modular BEV modular system of the heavy-duty model series. The central drive unit, battery systems, high-voltage architecture and thermal management originate from the eTGX and eTGS development and have been adapted for the mid-range segment. The MAN eCD210 electric drive delivers 210 kW (285 hp) and a maximum torque of 800 Nm in combination with MAN TipMatic 2. The high recuperation performance ensures very good energy efficiency, especially in stop-and-go operation.

A modular battery system with two to four battery packs allows a precise design for the respective application and avoids unnecessary costs and weight. Depending on the configuration, ranges of up to 480 kilometers are possible – ideal for demanding distribution and regional applications.

High variability, full ease of assembly

Typical MAN: The early and systematic involvement of body manufacturers was an integral part of development. Body-friendly interfaces, optimized wheelbases and the availability of a mechanical power take-off shaft (mPTO) – a real unique selling point in the competitive environment – enable the use of common series designs without complex adjustments.

Typical fields of application for the MAN eTGM include food and supermarket logistics, municipal applications, construction and waste disposal transport, and regional distribution transport.

MAN Truck & Bus at Transpotec Logitec 2026

At the Italian commercial vehicle trade fair Transpotec Logitec 2026 in Milan, MAN Truck & Bus will be showcasing a wide-ranging portfolio of applications – from heavy-duty long-haul transport, distribution and construction to light commercial vehicles and passenger transport.

The focus is on expanding the range of electric vehicles, in particular the MAN eTGX for heavy-duty long-haul transport, supported by a high-performance charging infrastructure featuring MCS technology, and integrated into a comprehensive ecosystem comprising consultancy, digital solutions and services designed to support decarbonisation.

This is complemented by efficient conventional vehicles such as the MAN TGX D30 and exclusive Individual Lion S models. The range also includes versatile TGS vehicles for construction applications, the MAN TGL for distribution, and bespoke solutions based on the MAN TGE – from panel vans and special-purpose vehicles to minibus variants.

The locally emission-free MAN Lion’s City 12 E LE city bus and the efficient MAN Lion’s Intercity R60 Hybrid are also part of the display. The exhibition is rounded off by MAN TopUsed and a wide range of service, financing, connectivity and support solutions for all types of drivetrains, positioning MAN as a comprehensive partner for sustainable mobility.

These cutting-edge, fully electric eTGX 4x2 tractors offer Russell Group a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 42,000 kg across five axles, providing a solution that promises to reduce emissions and help them advance toward their sustainability goals and Net Zero commitment.

Driven by a permanently excited synchronous motor delivering 330 kW (449 PS) and 1,150 Nm of torque, Russell Group’s three eTGX vehicles have a 375 kW DC charging capacity. For easy charging, all three vehicles have CCS charging connectors on both the left and right front sides. The chassis houses 6 x 80 kWh (480 kWh) batteries that power a central drive unit and a 4-speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission, which in turn drives the rear axle.

Stephen continued, “At the end of 2025, we took delivery of two more 4x2 eTGX tractors, and like the first vehicle, they hit the road running. I can't say enough positive things about them. Each vehicle is averaging around 400 km per day, which is in line with our fleet average. With our on-site charging facilities, we have no concerns. Overall, it's been an incredibly positive experience.” 

“Furthermore, the support we’ve received from MAN and its local dealership in Bellshill has been nothing short of outstanding. Everyone involved has come to the table, listened to our exacting requirements, and delivered. When we’ve encountered a minor issue, usually just a simple misunderstanding, MAN has responded promptly and with confidence. This has been noted and is very much appreciated.”

All three of the Russell Group's new vehicles have 3,750 mm wheelbases. They sit on a 9,000 kg front axle and an 11,500 kg rear axle. MAN’s range-topping GX High roof sleeper cab sits on top of the4x2 chassis.

Stephen added, “These are the first all-electric vehicles to join the fleet, so it was of utmost importance for us to specify vehicles that not only met our sustainability requirements but also met the needs of our drivers. They needed to be comfortable, safe, and, above all, provide drivers with a familiar workplace.”  

Once seated comfortably, the Russell Group drivers are cosseted by a myriad of creature comforts, including a multifunction leather steering wheel, a driver's seat with air suspension, lumbar support, and shoulder adjustment, a driver’s airbag, 12.3” professional instrumentation, climatronic air conditioning, a fully retractable under-bunk fridge, and 2 bunks with 110 mm comfort mattresses.

These vehicles are equipped with MAN’s Professional Navigation Media System featuring a 12.3-inch display, the MAN Advanced sound system with a subwoofer, MAN SmartSelect infotainment control with a touchpad and direct access buttons, and integrated smartphone connectivity. Additionally, all three vehicles include MAN’s OptiView mirror-replacement system, an aerodynamic package, a sunshade, automatic wipers with rain sensors, and LED lighting.

Founded in 1969 by John Russell, who currently serves as Chairman, John G. Russell (Transport) Ltd began with 14 employees and 12 vehicles. ZENFreight (Zero Emission National Freight) - Innovate UK Business Connect

The MAN TGM achieved the top rating of five stars in the latest Euro NCAP test for heavy commercial vehicles. MAN’s distribution truck for the mid-tonnage segment up to 16 tonnes impressed with a well-balanced overall performance across all three relevant assessment areas: Safe Driving, Crash Avoidance and Post‑Crash Safety. The evaluation covered, among other things, driver assistance systems, active accident prevention and measures to ensure safety after an accident. The modern assistance and safety systems that support the driver in a wide range of traffic situations received particularly positive recognition. These include, among others: driver monitoring systems that detect signs of fatigue and thus help increase active safety; high-performance emergency braking and turning assist systems to reduce accident risks; and comprehensive lane and speed assistance functions for use in regional distribution transport.

CitySafe award for enhanced safety in urban traffic
In addition to the five-star rating, the MAN TGM also received Euro NCAP’s CitySafe award. This is granted to vehicles that meet particularly high safety standards for use in city traffic. Key factors include, among others, good visibility and high-performing systems designed to prevent collisions with other road users.

Euro NCAP: stricter safety standards for commercial vehicles
Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) is an independent organization that has been conducting Europe-wide, widely recognized vehicle safety ratings for many years. Since the introduction of the programme for heavy-duty trucks, Euro NCAP has also been assessing commercial vehicles systematically against demanding criteria. The aim is to continuously raise safety standards in road freight transport and to promote the use of modern assistance systems.

Trucks are tested in realistic scenarios – among others in the areas of: Safe Driving (visibility, driver monitoring, assistance systems), Crash Avoidance (automatic emergency braking systems, lane assistance, protection of vulnerable road users) and Post‑Crash Safety (emergency information, rescue friendliness).

A clear signal for greater safety in distribution transport
With the five-star rating from Euro NCAP, the MAN TGM sends a clear message on high safety standards in regional distribution transport. The award confirms MAN Truck & Bus’s consistent focus on modern safety concepts and its ambition to protect drivers and other road users as effectively as possible.

But the good news doesn’t stop there! Fergusons Transport, or Fergie’s as they are affectionately known within the road haulage industry, has recently acquired 10 new TGX 26.480 6x2 tractors.

Michael Arkle, Transport Director at Fergusons Transport Ltd, commented: “100 years is a significant milestone in the company's history, and something we are all incredibly proud of. To help us celebrate and mark this considerable achievement, we wanted a vehicle that would represent the company and stand out while on the road delivering our customers' goods.”

Founded in 1926 by entrepreneur Matthew Ferguson as a one-man business, Fergusons Transport began as a general goods carrier between Blyth and Newcastle. Currently, under the leadership of third-generation family member Alan Ferguson (OBE), the company operates a mixed fleet of 130 vehicles, of which MAN has 75 percent, and an extensive range of trailers, including curtain-siders, armoured curtain-siders, stepped-frame trailers, flatbeds and specialist trailers.

Although nationwide transport within the UK remains the core function of Fergusons Transport, the company also specialises in warehousing, logistics, removals, and self-storage. With eight modern warehouses across the UK, offering a combined 430,000 square feet of space, Fergusons Transport provides storage, palletisation, container devanning, pick and pack, and a range of tailored goods reworking solutions. Additionally, the company operates a 150,000 square foot bonded warehousing facility with comprehensive HMRC customs brokerage services.

The new centenary TGX 26.520, built on the MAN 6x2 chassis with the GX cab, is powered by MAN’s advanced D26 engine, delivering 520 hp (387 kW) and 2,400 Nm from a 12.4-litre displacement. This latest-generation Euro VI OBD-E engine achieves a balance of efficiency, power, reduced emissions, and maximum reliability.

Linked to this 6 cylinder engine is a 12-speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission. This transmission uses CAN Bus data to automatically detect variations in load weight and topography, thereby optimising the gear-shifting strategy to maximise operational efficiency.

Michael continued, “Our Centenary vehicle, as it is special, has a slight uplift in power and a few extra features for the driver, which I’m sure will be appreciated. On a daily basis, it will join the main fleet operating from our Washington depot traveling across the country delivering customer goods.”

Fergusons Transport's 10 new TGX tractors are all 26.480, 6x2 models, also with GX cabs. Powered by the same 12.4 litre, 6 cylinder, Euro VI OBD-E D26 engine as the centenary vehicle, albeit rated at 480 hp (353 kW), these vehicles also feature the silky-smooth MAN 12-speed TipMatic® automated transmission.

“It is essential that we provide our customers with an efficient, cost-effective, and reliable road transport solution and to ensure we fulfil this steadfast commitment, we are continually investing in and modernising our fleet.” Added Michael.

Holding a special place in the hearts of Fergusons Transport is their 1926 Bean truck, the truck that started the company’s journey. Built by Staffordshire-based firm Harper Sons & Bean the 25 cwt. chassis is powered by a 13.9 hp engine and is fitted with a 4 speed gearbox. The chassis sold for £265 and initially only had rear wheel brakes, but in 1926 front wheel brakes were available for an extra £20. Bean trucks were built between 1924 and 1931.

Fergusons Transport’s new vehicles were prepared and underwent pre-delivery inspection by MAN Truck & Bus in Gateshead (NE11 0PY). MAN Truck & Bus Gateshead will service and maintain the vehicles throughout their operational lifespan.

With the research project SPIRIT‑E, MAN Truck & Bus is taking the electrification of freight transport to the next level. For the first time, the commercial vehicle manufacturer publicly demonstrated bidirectional charging under real-world conditions at the premises of logistics company Spedition Schmid in Obertraubling near Regensburg. The demonstration featured a battery-electric MAN eTGX with 480 kWh of usable energy. The technology has the potential to become a key enabler for cross-sector energy solutions by turning electric trucks into flexible energy storage systems. Instead of only consuming electricity, they can store power and feed it back into other systems as needed – improving fleet economics while also supporting the stability of the energy system.

Georg Grüneißl, Head of Product Strategy at MAN Truck & Bus, said: “Bidirectional charging is transforming the role of the electric truck. Our eTrucks effectively become power banks on wheels that can help lower energy costs while strengthening the energy system as a whole. SPIRIT‑E has demonstrated the substantial potential of this technology and how electric trucks can actively contribute to the energy transition in the future.”

Three applications are at the forefront of practical use. With Vehicle‑to‑Site (V2S) and Vehicle‑to‑Vehicle (V2V), companies use the energy stored in the truck battery directly at their own facilities – for example to avoid peak loads, increase self-consumption of photovoltaic electricity or support building infrastructure. In practice, this can translate into savings of around 10 to 20 percent on electricity costs. With an annual mileage of 100,000 km, this corresponds to up to 20,000 kilometers driven effectively “free of charge.” Bidirectional charging can therefore make a significant contribution to improving the total cost of ownership of electric trucks compared to diesel vehicles.

Vehicle‑to‑Grid (V2G) further expands this potential. In this case, the eTruck feeds electricity back into the public grid – for instance during periods of high electricity prices or to support grid stability. Fleet operators could generate additional revenue streams in the future. By the end of this decade, V2G is expected to become an increasingly attractive business model as energy markets, grid services and logistics processes become more closely integrated.

MAN is the first manufacturer in the commercial vehicle sector to functionally demonstrate bidirectional vehicle technology within a research project. As part of SPIRIT‑E, real energy flows have already been implemented, including supplying a building with electricity overnight using eTrucks or charging electric cars from a truck’s battery. However, bidirectional charging is not suitable for all truck applications – for example, where operations do not allow for longer dwell times at a depot.

SPIRIT‑E is supported by a broad consortium covering the entire value chain, from vehicle technology and the energy industry to system integration. Partners include the Technical University of Munich (TUM) as consortium lead, Fraunhofer IEE, the Research Centre for Energy Economics (FfE), SBRS (Shell), TenneT, Hubject, Consolinno Energy, and MAN Truck & Bus. Together, they have developed solutions that are being tested in a real-world laboratory at a logistics site.

With SPIRIT‑E, MAN demonstrates how electric trucks can evolve beyond their transport function to become an active part of future energy infrastructure - economically viable, digitally connected, and ready for the next stage of electrification.

With the journey of an eTGS Ultra semitrailer tractor from Paris to Berlin in the coming days, MAN will not only demonstrate that long-distance transport by eTruck is now easily feasible in Europe. In addition, as part of the Milence Electric Tour "Power to Go Further", the commercial vehicle manufacturer also wants to show that this type of drive is also becoming more and more attractive economically. The tour connects Paris and Berlin over around 1,000 kilometers and stops at various Milence charging parks along the route. With the tour, which runs from April 15 to 23, the charging infrastructure joint venture of the TRATON GROUP, Daimler Truck and Volvo Group wants to demonstrate how electric long-distance logistics works in real operation today.  

The MAN eTGS Ultra and the MAN eTGX Ultra are the only standard eTrucks on the market with a particularly low semi-trailer height for high-volume automotive trailers and a short wheelbase with a maximum battery capacity of 534 kilowatt hours. This means that up to 570 kilometres in long-distance transport are possible without intermediate charging. The MAN eTGS will demonstrate this performance on demanding long-distance journeys. The tour leads along the public Milence charging points in four countries: St. Witz (F), Ghent (BE), Maasmechelen (BE), Zwolle (NL), Mogendorf (D), Kassel-Lohfelden (D) and Vockerode (D). By participating in the Milence Electric Tour, MAN is not only demonstrating the reliability of the technology, but also how advantageous electric commercial vehicle logistics are already working today in conjunction with a constantly growing e-mobility service ecosystem.

MAN Charge&Go: Easy public charging 

The simple use of public charging infrastructure is a key component of MAN's holistic eMobility approach. The experienced driver from MAN ProfiDrive, who will accompany the Milence Electric Tour, relies on the charging card from MAN Charge&Go. This enables convenient access to a Europe-wide network of public charging infrastructure. Another advantage of MAN Charge&Go is the eTruck-ready standard: all charging stations included in the Charge&Go network have been checked to see whether they are suitable for trucks. MAN eTGS 20.449 4x2 Electric 4x2 Rigid (Ride and Drive)

The new all-electric, battery-powered MAN eTGS 4x2 rigid is being presented for the first time in Northern Ireland and is available for test drives in the RTX Show ride and drive section.

The vehicle is rated at 20 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) and is powered by a Permanently Excited Synchronous motor delivering 330 kW (449 PS) and 1150 Nm of torque. It is equipped with four 80 kWh batteries, totalling 320 kWh, which optimise the balance between range and payload. A 4-speed MAN TipMatic automated transmission is mounted mid-chassis and connected to the central drive unit, transmitting power to a standard rear axle via a traditional propshaft.

The vehicle features a 375 kW DC charging capacity and Combined Charging System (CCS) connections at both the left and right front corners. Its compact footprint, efficient payload capacity, and advanced eco-friendly drivetrain contribute to business decarbonisation objectives.

Sitting on top of the 5650 mm wheelbase chassis and resting on air-suspended axles at both the front and rear is a TM medium-roof sleeper cab painted Arctic Blue Metallic. Specified with MAN’s OptiView mirror replacement system, roof spoiler, sunshade, automatic wipers with rain sensor, LED lighting, and automatic driving light control with a light sensor, this configuration provides a compact design and enhanced driver comfort for overnight stays.

MAN eTGX 20.449 4x2 Electric 4x2 Tractor (Ride and Drive)

This fully electric 4x2 tractor offers customers and operators alike a 42,000 kg Gross Combination Weight (GCW) solution that promises to drive down emissions.

Driven by a permanently excited synchronous motor, which delivers power outputs of 330 kW (449 PS) and 1,150 Nm of torque, this vehicle's charging capacity is set at 375 kW DC. For ease of use, it features CCS charging connection points on both the left and right front sides. The chassis houses 6 x 80 kWh (480 kWh) batteries that power a central drive unit and a 4 speed MAN TipMatic® automated transmission, which in turn drives the rear axle via a traditional propshaft.

This vehicle’s 4x2 wheelbase measures 3,750 mm, it features a 9,000 kg front axle and an 11,500 kg rear axle. In line with UK regulations, its GCW (Gross Combination Weight) is set at 42,000 kg. Front suspension is via leaf spring, and rear suspension is on air.

All MAN vehicles are supported by MAN Truck & Bus UK's Nationwide Commercial Vehicle Dealer network, with many operating extended hours, including round-the-clock servicing and customer-tailored maintenance solutions.

The entire MAN range benefits from MAN's Mobile24 24-hour assistance service, which provides customers with a professional roadside partner throughout Europe 365 days a year.

MAN Truck & Bus SE plans to invest around €300 million in the expansion and further development of its European service network by 2030. This is the largest investment of its kind in MAN's history. The company intends to use this investment to create new bases in Europe, modernize existing locations, optimize regional coverage, further improve service quality, and continue to work intensively on making the network fit for electric mobility. At the beginning of the year, the company announced its intention to reduce costs with its "MAN2030+" program in order to be able to make significant investments in growth and innovation. MAN already has an exceptionally strong network of service and sales locations.  

There are around 1,200 MAN-owned and partner companies across Europe, with a total of approximately 7,000 employees working in MAN companies. MAN customers across Europe can rely on round-the-clock support, every day of the week. More than 2,000 MAN service centers and cooperation partners provide seamless support via the MAN Mobile24 breakdown and mobility service. In Germany, for example, MAN already has the largest manufacturer-owned service network with more than 340 of its own and partner service locations. 

“A strong brand needs a strong service network. We have that – and we are now making it even stronger. Alongside our sales team, our workshops are our public face for our customers. Our strong network is a competitive advantage. We want to expand it further. That is why we are investing heavily here over the next few years, because the combination of product, service, and good quality will become even more important in the coming years, especially against the backdrop of new competitors. We want to set ourselves apart even more clearly and establish ourselves as a sustainable player," says Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN. "The commercial vehicle business is significantly more complex and service-intensive than the passenger car business. The daily availability of vehicles is essential for our customers' businesses. To be successful, we need to be very close to our customers and offer top-notch service," Baumann continues. 

Shorter distances  

In the future, for example, the distances customers have to travel to the workshops will be even shorter. The goal is for almost 80 percent of customers to have a travel time of less than 30 minutes to the next MAN service location. The most important markets in which this goal is to be achieved as a priority and before 2030 include Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as France, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Turkey, among others. In certain regions with particularly high logistics requirements, the goal is to be achieved by creating new bases, among other measures. "We are opening an average of seven new branches per year in these countries," said Baumann. 

MAN already has 68 service and sales locations in the UK, with around 900 employees in total and 550 in our own branches. A service investment of around 40 million euros is planned for the UK MAN Network by 2030, and several additional UK locations are to be opened by 2031.

Fit for sustainable mobility 

MAN is also working flat out at all levels to make its sales and service locations fit for sustainable mobility. By 2026, two out of three bases are to be prepared for e-mobility. Around one third of the planned investments totaling around 300 million euros will therefore be channeled into electromobility and digitalization. This comprises a bundle of measures: 

• Sales and service staff in Europe are receiving training - around 8,000 employees, from sales representatives to high-voltage mechanics, are undergoing further intensive training on the subject of e-mobility. In Germany, for example, the budget for further training in the field of e-mobility is being doubled as part of the investment program. MAN not only has a highly qualified team, but is also a very good employer. MAN has been named Top Employer 2025 in three European markets – the UK, Spain, and France.
• Several MAN-owned battery repair centers are already in operation across Europe, including in Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria, and Italy. Austria acts as a hub for the neighboring countries of Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. Further countries will be connected within the next few months. Through partners, this also already applies to Sweden and will soon apply to the Netherlands. By 2030, the plan is to further expand the network of battery repair centers and to tap into all European markets.   
• As part of the cooperation with energy company E.ON, a large number of MAN service branches will be equipped with publicly accessible charging points for electric trucks. In total, the cooperation comprises up to 400 charging points at up to 170 locations in Europe, including up to 125 locations in Germany alone. The German locations in Berlin-Wildau, Fürstenwalde, and Karlsfeld, the Austrian location in Eugendorf, and Čestlice in Czechia are already live. Further stations will be opened in various markets later this year.
• The further expansion of photovoltaic systems at MAN branches, together with the widespread installation of LED lighting and state-of-the-art heating systems, is an important step toward sustainability.
• The digitization of workshop processes is being consistently driven forward. Service advisors and technicians have already been equipped with iPads to handle service orders, documentation, and communication digitally. In addition, app solutions and artificial intelligence are to support the end-to-end digitization of workshop visits and ensure more efficient processes, greater transparency, and improved service quality for customers. 

MAN Truck & Bus is making a clear statement in the premier class of heavy-duty transport with the launch of a new TGX 41.640 8x4/4  heavy-duty tractor unit with a gross vehicle weight rating of 250 tons. The 640 hp four-axle vehicle easily moves large turbines weighing hundreds of tons for wind turbines, high-voltage transformers or entire submarines. Among other things, the MAN TGX features a torque converter clutch, a special gearbox designed for extreme loads and powerful hydraulic and compressed air systems that enable precise steering and leveling of the 30 or more axles of heavy-duty trailers in any driving situation.  

The new heavy-duty range is a complete factory solution from MAN Individual: the four-axle base vehicle is produced at the Munich plant and then equipped with heavy-duty couplings, reinforced cooling and diesel and hydraulic tanks at the MAN Truck Modification Center in Wittlich.  

The high-performance truck comes with the same comprehensive after sales, warranty, and financing services as all series vehicles. This makes MAN one of the few providers of series-based complete solutions from 3.5 to 250 tons and covers every transport task from light to heavy with the TGE, TGL, TGM, TGS and TGX models – also fully electric on request from 12 to 42 tons. 

Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales & Customer Solutions at MAN Truck & Bus, unveiled the new tractor unit in the presence of around 80 international heavy-duty transporters: "With our new 250-ton tractor unit, we are returning to the supreme discipline of heavy-duty transport. Thanks to MAN Individual's expertise, we are offering our customers a highly specialized vehicle that combines maximum performance, reliability and economy in one package. In doing so, we are once again sending out a strong signal to simplify our customers' business." 

MAN has delivered the first new 250-tonne heavy-duty TGX to the German rental specialist BFS. The dark blue tractor unit is available for heavy-duty transport companies that require vehicles at short notice for particularly heavy-duty operations. "We are very proud to have the very first of these special high-performance trucks in our fleet! It is the perfect flagship for our special vehicle rental fleet and another highlight in our 60-year partnership with MAN," says Jan Plieninger, Managing Director of BFS. He and his team are cooperation partners of MAN for commercial vehicle rental: from standard models and special vehicles to 250-ton trucks – with flexible short to long-term rental and supported by a comprehensive service network of over 90 MAN-owned workshops in Germany, Switzerland, Croatia and the Netherlands. 

New 250-tonne TGX: designed for extreme heavy-duty applications  

At the heart of the new heavy-duty model is the MAN D3876 in-line six-cylinder engine with 640 hp and 3,000 Nm torque, available in a wide range from 900 to 1,380 rpm¹ – ideal for high loads at low speeds. The torque converter clutch (WSK) integrated into the automated MAN TipMatic 12.30 OD gearbox enables low-wear, powerful starting with up to 1.59 times more torque and sensitive maneuvering. In addition, the Retarder 40 ensures high continuous braking performance and thermal stability. Special TipMatic programs provide support during operation: the Heavy Transport program for loads up to 250 tons, the Efficiency mode for loads up to 70 tons with particularly economical fuel consumption. 

Integrated heavy-duty equipment ex works 

MAN bundles the central heavy-duty components in a heavy-duty tower behind the cab. It contains four pressure tanks for 160 liters of additional air supply, a 960-liter diesel tank and the 290-liter tank for the two-stage heavy-duty hydraulics. This delivers pressures of up to 300 bar, works with a load-sensing system and provides 20 or 40 l/min of oil independently of the load – depending on the requirements of the axle steering systems. A heavy-duty transport cooler is also integrated into the heavy-duty tower, which keeps the engine temperature stable even at low speeds and high engine loads. 

The JOST JSK 38 C fifth wheel (3.5") is mounted on the frame, with an 800 mm shifting device as standard for optimum load distribution. For use in pushing or pulling operations, the vehicle has a front register coupling with three height levels. At the rear, the ROCKINGER 56 EA can be fitted as an option, whose automatic locking mechanism enables comfortable and reliable coupling even on uneven terrain. 

Design, comfort and individualization with MAN Individual 

The tractor unit is also available with the MAN Individual Lion S equipment package as an option. This includes exclusive design elements such as carbon applications, black aerodomes, red accents and high-quality interior details such as Alcantara seat covers, decorative stitching and red seat belts. A 24-inch television or an electrically adjustable TV recliner are available as options, as is ambient lighting elements that make everyday driving much more pleasant, especially on long journeys.  

Service and financing portfolio up to 250 tons 

MAN complements the new heavy-duty model with a comprehensive service and financing portfolio: this includes MAN Service Contracts, Extended Warranty and the Uptime Guarantee as well as digital services such as Perform, Compliant M, Timed and ServiceCare. The global service network with around 1,670 locations in over 140 countries ensures rapid support. Flexible financing and insurance models from MAN Financial Services – including Hire Purchase and PremiumCover – offer additional planning security, especially for heavy-duty customers.
