MAN to join forces with five Bundesliga football teams
The MAN Gruppe has joined up to partner five Bundesliga teams at the start of the new football season. The DAX company from Munich has entered into exclusive partnerships for commercial vehicles with FC Bayern Munich, Hamburg SV, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FC Kaiserslautern. "These clubs are synonymous with team spirit, tradition and success, and so they are a perfect match for MAN. We are proud of the fact that these top teams will be travelling to their games in our premium buses," says Dr Georg Pachta-Reyhofen, spokesman of the Executive Board of MAN SE.
MAN and NEOPLAN brand coaches take many of Europe and Latin America's top teams to their games. In Germany, nine of the 18 Bundesliga teams have either MAN or NEOPLAN coaches. Amongst other European clubs, Chelsea London and AC Milan put their trust in MAN, while in Brazil, 15 of the top-flight teams as well as the national squad are on the road in MAN coaches.
MAN and FC Bayern Munich have now decided to expand their partnership, which has already been running for two years. In addition to the team coach for manager Louis van Gaal's team, MAN will also be providing a second bus for the club. "For the third season, our players will be on the road in Europe in a highly modern MAN team coach. They can only produce their best form on the pitch when they arrive relaxed at their games," emphasises Uli Hoeneß, president of FC Bayern Munich. Besides the new bus, the partnership also includes perimeter advertising in the Allianz Arena. During the new season, MAN will be promoting its new image campaign "We are your MAN" along the touchlines whenever FC Bayern is playing at home. This perimeter advertising has been adapted accordingly to all five partner clubs and will be presented in their respective home stadiums.
The exclusive MAN Lion’s Coach L Supreme has been the rolling home of Germany's championship record-holders for two years. Equipped with a lane guard system, ABS, an electronic stability program, MAN TipMatic® automatic transmission, front and reversing cameras as well as an alarm system, the coach has just about everything that technology has to offer. The same also applies to the interior fittings. thirty leather upholstered seats, four retractable tables with electrically adjustable legrests, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, satellite TV, a DVD system, four 19-inch flatscreen TVs and preparation for WiFi leave nothing to be desired. Particularly important for the players is the generously sized galley at the rear of the coach, with its ceramic hob and its ice-cube maker. And on the way home, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribéry & Co. can then dream about the next title, under a starry "heaven" consisting of a ceiling with 500 LEDs.
The MAN Lion’s Star for the HSV is 13.8 metres long and has a total of thirty seats. Of these seats, 18 are equipped with electrically adjustable table supports / legrests, state-of-the-art in terms of comfort. There are two club tables, which are also electrically adjustable and can thus be used in a highly flexible manner, for example for discussion groups. Two refrigerators and a dispenser for hot drinks can be found in the fully-equipped Frenzel galley, where small meals can also be prepared. The team can use the four flatscreen monitors to follow the route via a navigation system or for displaying one of the many digital satellite programs available. There is an eight-channel sound system installed between each pair of seats, so that every player can choose the music he personally wants to listen to over his headphones.
"We're very happy with the support we're getting from Munich. With its 250-year history, MAN is one of Europe's oldest and best-known companies. The MAN team coach is like a living room on wheels for our players, who feel very much at home there." Katja Kraus, member of the Hamburg SV Board
VFL Wolfsburg's MAN Lion's Coach Supreme has a luxuriously fitted interior, realised largely in conjunction with system partner Frenzel. It goes way beyond the already-comprehensive standard equipment. Fittings include three retractable tables with electrically adjustable legrests, 32 exclusive leather seats and countless multimedia facilities, amongst others three 15-inch TFT screens, an eight-channel audio system for every seat, a DVD system and preparation for WiFi with an Internet hotspot. Satellite TV and DVB-T reception go without saying. The generous galley in the middle of the coach with its 85-litre refrigerator, stainless-steel sinks and hot-air oven leaves nothing to be desired in the way of comprehensive on-board service. An emergency power supply unit in the luggage compartment ensures that the top-quality equipment can always be operated.
"For us, the MAN team coach is connected with winning the German Championship in 2009, the greatest success in the club's history. We are very happy with the extensive partnership with MAN. It means that in the years to come, it's certain that our players will continue to arrive safely and relaxed at their matches." Thomas Röttgermann, VfL Wolfsburg Marketing and Organisation manager
The fittings of the FCK team coach are exclusive and fill all the demands of modern travel: the MAN Lion's Coach is equipped with a 440-hp common-rail diesel engine. In all, 28 seats and a length of 13.8 metres provide more than enough legroom. Table supports and legrests are electrically adjustable - more comfort than this is hard to imagine. Modern kitchen equipment, for example a microwave oven, a hot-drink dispenser, an ice-cube maker and a top-quality coffee machine, enables the preparation of meals and drinks. Four refrigerators keep beverages at just the right temperature. The four 19-inch monitors, which are connected to satellite and DVD systems as well as a multi-channel sound system, can be used to relax the players by showing them films, or to get them into the right frame of mind for the coming match: video presentations can be made from the manager's seat, so that Marco Kurz can give his team final tactical instructions on the way to the stadium. The coach has WiFi and a 230-V socket for every seat, meaning that all the players are able to use their laptops.
"We aim to establish FCK in the Bundesliga again. To achieve this aim we need first-class, professional partners and this is why we're specially pleased with the support we're getting from Munich: in MAN we now have another strong partner at our side. The new team coach provides first-class comfort for our professionals, just the conditions they need to produce first-class performances and achieve our primary aim, which is to keep our place in the top division." Stefan Kuntz, Chairman of 1. FC Kaiserslautern
The new BVB team coach, an MAN Lion’s Coach L, is one of a series of more than 3,000 vehicles produced and as such, one of the most successful coaches in MAN's history. An efficient 480-hp MAN common-rail engine outputs all the power needed to drive this 3.8-metre long and 3.8-metre high three-axle vehicle. Thanks to MAN PURE DIESEL® technology it complies with the EEV emissions standard without the use of additives such as AdBlue®. The driver enjoys the comfort of the MAN TipMatic 12-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the safety systems that have been series equipment at MAN for years, such as ABS (anti-blocking system), ASR (anti-slip regulation) and a reinforced body, the MAN Lion’s Coach L also includes as series equipment ESP (Electronic Stability Program). The Borussia Dortmund team coach seats 32 people and has a galley area with a coffee machine, microwave oven, water heater and sink. Four refrigerators keep food and beverages at the right temperature. Eighteen of the seats, together with their tables, are so-called "regeneration seats" with footrests. At the rear of the coach there is a face-to-face group of four seats, while the WC is located in the centre of the vehicle. There are four 19-inch monitors, giving every single one of the passengers a good view of their game on the sports report afterwards via a Sky satellite system. The coach is prepared for WiFi and is equipped with a 5,000-watt inverter. This can be connected to a 230-V network, thus taking the strain off the battery of the vehicle when parked. The team coach has a luggage compartment lined with tough corrugated sheet metal that can take even the harsh treatment meted out in the day-to-day life of Bundesliga travel. The luggage racks in the passenger compartment have flaps just like in aeroplanes.
"Our experience with the MAN coach has been unbeatable, so we're really looking forward to our new one and also to our extensive partnership with the Munich company with the long tradition. After seven years we're starting this season with a new model that will hopefully carry our team to continued sporting success." Hans-Joachim Watzke, general manager of Borussia Dortmund.
