MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd is set to showcase two new and exciting TGE chassis based vehicles at the 2021 Emergency Services Show, at the NEC Birmingham, on the 7th and 8th September.

Located in Hall 5 on stand B81, directly adjacent to the stairs leading through to Hall 4, MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd.’s stand will showcase two new and advanced TGE chassis based vehicles. The first is a St John Ambulance frontline Modular Box Body Ambulance based on a 3.5 tonne TGE flat frame chassis cowl. Next to this and based on a heavier TGE 5.5 tonne chassis cab, is a Avon Fire & Rescue Service, Breathing Apparatus Support Vehicle.

St John Ambulance - MAN TGE 3.180 4x2F SB Flat Frame Chassis Cowl 3.5 tonne Modular Box Body Ambulance.

Powered by a 177 PS (130 kW) 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine, linked to an 8 Speed automatic gearbox, this vehicle has a 3640 mm wheelbase and is in front wheel drive format. Equipment includes: Multi-function steering wheel, Comfort seats, Driver & front passenger airbags, Heated & electrical adjustable mirrors, Run-lock, Satellite navigation with DAB radio & wireless CarPlay, Air conditioning climatic and Cruise control with speed limiter.

This 3.5 tonne Modular Box Body Ambulance has been built by WAS, a leading manufacturer of special vehicles and ambulances. The body specification includes: WAS lightweight ambulance box body construction, Stryker Power LOAD system for patient loading, Venice PowerTraxx carry chair, Lightweight cabinet construction, Fully compliant with EN1789 standard, 640kg available payload for medical equipment and people, Robust sliding side door, Fully configurable internal layout and is constructed from 100% recyclable material.

Powered by a 177 PS (130 kW) 2.0 litre 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine, linked to an 8 Speed automatic gearbox, this vehicle has a 4490 mm wheelbase and is in rear wheel drive, dual tyre, format. Equipment includes: AGM battery and alternator with increased capacity, Body builder socket (KFG module), 2nd AGM battery with cut-off relay and battery monitoring, Heated & electrical adjustable mirrors, Windshield wipers with rain sensor and automatic headlights, Driver & front passenger airbags, Air conditioning climatic, Multi-function steering wheel, Seat trim covers in leatherette, Overhead storage compartment, Cruise control system with speed limiter and Satellite navigation with DAB radio & wireless CarPlay.

This 5.5 tonne Breathing Apparatus Support Vehicle has been built by Angloco Ltd, specialists in the design and manufacture of fire-fighting and rescue vehicles. The body specification includes: Angloco CanBus electrical system installation, Fixed and sliding shelves, with tilt capability and breathing, Apparatus stowage, Lockers to incorporate lift up roller shutters complete with central locking, Rear Sink facilities for the wash down of Breathing Apparatus Sets, 100 litres of Clean Water Storage, 200 litres of Waste Water Storage, Electric Awnings and a Roof mounted light mast.

In addition to the above vehicles emergency service vehicle specialists VCS are unveiling a ground-breaking concept based on a new Ultra Low Floor Architecture (ULFA) platform, developed by sister company Promech Technologies. The all new ULFA platform’s construction, in the livery of St John Ambulance and based on a 5.180 MAN TGE, offers a combination of strength, versatility and accessibility as never seen before in the emergency services sector (stand F29).

This concept, the first of its kind in Europe, enables VCS to produce a new generation of frontline emergency vehicles with gross vehicle weights of 3.5, 4.0, 4.25, 4.5 and 5.0 tonnes, giving them the ability to offer a new generation of box body emergency service vehicles, including frontline ambulances and police support units, as well as fire, search and rescue vehicles.
