MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd heads off-road: testing Off-Road Performance, Durability, and Product Innovation at its 2026 Customer Off-Road Experience.
Leading commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd is back in the quarry, hosting a weeklong customer event to showcase the off-road performance, durability, and innovation of its construction-focused range.
The 2026 MAN Off-Road Experience, based at Tixover Quarry, near Stamford, gives visiting truck and van customers the opportunity to get behind the wheel and test drive MAN vehicles from 3.5 to 32 tonnes in challenging real-world conditions.
Jan Kohlmeier, Managing Director at MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd, said: "It’s great to be back in the quarry with customers, showcasing what our vehicles can do. This event, set in Tixover quarry, gives us the perfect opportunity to meet both our existing and new customers face-to-face, share the latest developments across our product range, and demonstrate what makes MAN vehicles stand out.
“As a true hands-on experience, once behind the wheel, our customers, with guidance from our ProfiDrivers, can test the off-road capability of our trucks and vans and, in doing so, see firsthand the performance, durability, and innovation for which MAN is known."
Designed to capture the attention of construction industry professionals and meet the needs of the specialist off-road transport sectors, MAN is showcasing an array of vehicles, from the rugged TGS 8x4 to the nimble all-wheel-drive TGE 4x4.
As a robust, dependable, and easy-to-body chassis platform, the MAN TGS 8x4 sets itself apart from other vehicles due to its flexibility, superior off-road traction, and chassis payload capacity. During the event, customers can drive a range of TGS models rated at 32 tonnes, including Tippers and Hook loaders.
The construction roadshow TGSs all feature the same robust, efficient, and powerful MAN D26 12.4-liter, 6 cylinder, Euro VI OBD-E engines, available at 440 PS, 480 PS, or 540 PS (324 kW, 355 kW, and 397 kW, respectively).
New to the MAN UK truck model portfolio is the MAN TGS 8x2 rigid, a vehicle ideally suited to customers who require a GVW of 32 tonnes and a tighter turning circle than a traditional 8x4. Fitted ex-factory with an electrohydraulic lift-and-steer rear tag axle, the TGS 8x2 features a rear axle that helps reduce turning circles and maximise manoeuvrability when delivering to sites with limited access. Ideal for machinery movers, bulk blower applications, specialist crane operators, highway maintenance providers, and the like, the MAN TGS 8x2 is making its debut at a MAN ride and drive event.
The lighter and more compact TGM 4x2 offers construction-focused customers an easy-to-body, lightweight chassis suitable for a wide range of applications. Powered by MAN’s 250 PS (184 kW) D08 six-cylinder engine and plated at 18 tonnes GVW.
To meet the needs of customers seeking a 3.5-tonne all-wheel drive van, ideal as a service support vehicle or a lighter off-road solution, MAN is also demonstrating two TGE 4x4s. Powered by MAN’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder Euro 6 bi-turbo diesel engine, these TGEs, whilst being very capable off-road, feature all the luxuries a driver could want, including MAN Media Van Navigation Business with a 12.9” touchscreen, a multifunction steering wheel, an electronic parking brake with Auto-Hold, and Keyless Start, among many other premium features.
Nick Handy, Head of Product Management at MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd, commented: “This off-road construction event, set in a sandstone quarry, lets customers, operators, and drivers alike get behind the wheel of our latest vehicles, testing their robustness, suitability, and drivetrain performance in challenging conditions.
“The road transport construction industry is a tough work environment. It’s hard on vehicles and on both drivers and operators. By demonstrating our latest vehicle range, we can showcase targeted options, including enhanced fuel efficiency to reduce costs, improved cab comfort for drivers, and advanced safety features. These options make businesses more profitable and drivers’ lives more comfortable. Importantly, our specialist off-road driver assistance programs help keep drivers safer,” concluded Nick.
