One of the UK's largest suppliers of plant equipment, building materials and recycling services to the UK construction industry, Mone Bros, is experiencing an uplift in fleet performance thanks to a new fleet of MAN trucks.

The four tippers were supplied to Leeds-based Mone Bros through MAN's direct sales operation and local MAN dealership Steadplan Ltd Leeds. All are MAN 8x4 TGS 35.420 BB models with 12.4-litre straight-six engines producing 309 kW (420 hp) and the popular 2.24 m wide M cabs.

Providing a wide range of services the new vehicles will work across the Mone Bros four sites and at customer construction projects moving spoil, muck and demolition waste. They will also be used to deliver natural stone, aggregate materials, recycled type 1, top soil, sand, gravel and crusher run material throughout Yorkshire and further afield to the likes of Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and even into London, where Mone Bros supplied the Grit Stone for the Blackfriars Bridge and Blackfriars Station renovation development project.

"Our fleet carries out an extremely demanding range of duties which means we require our vehicles to be robust and built to the very highest standards," said Director Phil Mone. "When working on major construction, demolition and site clearance projects you simply can't afford to have a weak link."

The rugged 8x4 TGS range is purpose-designed for construction-related applications. It uses a robust yet lightweight and flexible chassis which is ideally suited to the severities of both the on and off-road construction industry. It also offers a comfortable and safe cab and working environment for the driver, which can be specified to meet their every need.

"The MAN brand is relatively new to us, with the first vehicles arriving in September 2018, but in the short time we've been dealing with MAN the service we've received has been impeccable" Phil Mone continued. "We know that we can depend not only on the vehicles themselves, but also on the Salesman Neil Turner, the manufacturer and the dealer back-up."

"We also had MAN Telematics fitted which enables us to monitor the vehicles' performance while at the same time ensure their uptime is maximised and so far they've proved to be solid, reliable, efficient and good value for money."

Bodied by specialist commercial vehicle body builders L Townend Ltd, West Yorkshire, the four new TGSs all feature the L Townend "Governor" body, a heavyweight high strength steel all-rounder. Featuring a double skin steel tipping body with a 5 mm Hardox floor, 4 mm Hardox sides, 2.5 mm mild steel outer skin, Hardox top rails and Hardox tail door, they use Harsh HFT149 front end tipping gear, electric front to back flip sheeting system, a PM1155 4 Cell On-Board Weigh Systems and offer a payload allowance of over 19 tonnes.

"The introduction of our new MAN tippers represents a major step in our fleet expansion and renewal programme," added Phil Mone. "This investment will help us to further reduce our environmental impact, boost our fleet efficiency, grow our service levels and allow us to meet increasing demands."

Established in 1965 and with over five decades of experience, Mone Brothers has become one of the UK's largest suppliers of plant equipment, building materials and recycling services to the UK construction industry. While still a family run business, Mone Bros employs over 70 skilled operational and managerial staff, offering a diverse range of products and services.

Phil Mone concludes: "Our business focusses on supplying excellence and with the addition of these new MAN trucks we can continue to do just that. Feedback from our drivers is extremely positive, fuel consumption, always a concern, is very good, and the level of support we receive from the dealer is above expectation."

Over the last six months Mone Bros has also taken delivery of a number of other MAN vehicles, including a TGS 35.420 tipper grab, and a further two TGS 35.420 chassis, which are currently with L Townend being bodied. Two more MAN TGS 8x4 chassis are currently in build for delivery later this year.

All four of Mone Bros new TGS's come with MAN's standard manufacturer four year warranty. They are also supported by MAN's Mobile24 24-hour breakdown service, which guarantees 24/7 emergency roadside assistance 365 days of the year.

Mone Bros aim is to provide a world class service to all their customers, exceed the required and necessary health and safety standards, whilst delivering excellent value for money. Not only do they work strictly in accordance with the Environmental Agency regulations, but they are constantly looking at developing recycled aggregates that have a reduced environmental impact. Mone Bros have been operating at the pinnacle of their profession for the last decade, having been the first organisation in Yorkshire to produce a recycled TYPE 1 to Clause 803 and YHAUC approval in March 2009.
