More than 500 new talents at MAN are starting apprenticeships and dual study programs in Germany

Start of the training year: 504 new apprentices and dual students begin their vocational training at MAN Truck & Bus in Germany in September 2026.

In September 2026, 504 new talents will begin their apprenticeships or dual study programs at MAN Truck & Bus at the three major German production sites in Munich, Nuremberg and Salzgitter, as well as in Wittlich and the German service operations. Across all years, around 1,600 young women and men are currently enrolled in apprenticeships or dual study programs at MAN. The company is therefore making an important contribution to securing skilled workers and investing in the future of its German locations.

Demand for apprenticeship positions at MAN was again very high this year. All positions were filled. Hubert Altschäffl, Chief Human Resources Officer at MAN Truck & Bus SE, said: “MAN remains an attractive employer. The company is renowned for its excellent, award-winning training of young talent. Vocational training has always been especially important to us. In this way, we invest in our future and take social responsibility. That is why we continue to train young people in Germany at a very high level, with around 1,600 apprentices currently enrolled.”

“The transformation of the commercial vehicle industry requires highly qualified professionals. That is why we specifically invest in the training of young talent and provide them with the skills needed for the mobility and production of tomorrow. The strong demand is not only linked to MAN’s high level of brand recognition, but also to the fact that we adapted our training programs at an early stage to attractive future-oriented fields of expertise, such as manufacturing and automation technology as well as electromobility,” said Stefan Thyssen, Head of Academy & Talent.

Share of female apprentices continues to increase

The share of female apprentices among new hires has been rising steadily for years and now exceeds 15 percent at MAN’s German plants and workshops. In Salzgitter, almost 50 percent of new apprentices are now female, partly due to strong demand from women in the logistics sector. “This trend is very encouraging. However, we are still far from reaching our goal and want to inspire even more young women to pursue vocational training in the future,” said Stefan Thyssen.

Apprenticeship figures in Germany in detail:

Munich: 63 apprentices and 13 dual-study students will begin their training in September. Across all years, there are currently 215 apprentices and 47 dual-study students.

Nuremberg: 38 apprentices will begin their training in September. Across all years, there will then be 128 apprentices.

Salzgitter: 37 apprentices, 3 dual-study students and 2 part-time dual vocational trainees will begin their training in September. Across all years, there will be 117 apprentices and 11 dual-study students.

Wittlich: 3 apprentices began their training in August. Across all years, there are 12 apprentices.

MAN Truck & Bus Deutschland: 346 new apprentices will begin their training in August and September. This brings the total number of apprentices to 1,112.
