Sweet Wafers with an Electric Truck

Manner launches into E-Mobility with MAN

Download
  • The traditional company is deploying a fully electric eTGX for the first time in daily inter-factory transport between Vienna and Wolkersdorf
  • The distinctively branded eTruck transports nougat and chocolate mass locally emission-free between production sites
  • Operations run predominantly on electricity from renewable energy sources – including the company's own photovoltaic system at the Wolkersdorf site
  • Funding for a second fully electric articulated truck and a 7.5-tonne vehicle for supplying the Manner flagship store has been approved

With its pink livery, it's impossible to miss: Manner's new, distinctively branded eTruck. The eTGX 20.449 4x2 (330 kW/449 PS) operates daily between the two factories in Vienna and Wolkersdorf. Furthermore, the company is already testing the electric truck on routes beyond inter-factory transport and is considering expanding the tour. Depending on configuration, route and transport task, the MAN eTGX covers up to 570 kilometres on a single battery charge. With this vehicle, the traditional company is sending a strong signal for innovation and sustainable logistics together with MAN.

The eTGX is deployed in regular inter-factory transport and carries essential raw materials such as nougat and chocolate mass between production sites. Electric mobility demonstrates its strengths precisely on this plannable shuttle route: reliable charging cycles, high efficiency and emission-free operation in urban areas. By switching to electric mobility, Manner is reducing its CO₂ emissions in ongoing operations, lowering noise pollution along the route and significantly reducing the ecological footprint of inter-factory transport.

Bringing Sustainability Visibly to the Road

"With our new eTruck, we're bringing sustainability visibly to the road. It stands not only for technological innovation, but also for our clear commitment to taking responsibility across the entire value chain," explains Manner CEO Dieter Messner. "Particularly in internal transport, it demonstrates how efficient and practical emission-free logistics already is today." A special highlight is the striking vehicle design: the eTGX in Manner pink functions as a rolling brand ambassador and makes Manner's commitment to sustainable solutions visible in everyday life. "Anyone who sees our eTruck on its daily route recognises immediately: we're moving things – in the truest sense of the word," says Messner.

Emission-Free Heavy Goods Transport Is Already Economically Viable Today

This is also an important step for MAN: "We share with Manner the aspiration to bring innovation into practice," says Rudi Kuchta, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus Vertrieb Österreich GesmbH. "This eTruck is specifically designed for urban and regional deployment and demonstrates that emission-free heavy goods transport is already economically viable and reliable today. For us, it's a particular honour to accompany Manner – one of Austria's most traditional companies – on the journey into an emission-free future."

The transformation is also supported politically: "The decarbonisation of transport is a central component of our climate strategy," emphasises Peter Hanke, Austrian Federal Minister for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure. "Companies like Manner are setting a good example here and showing how sustainable mobility can be implemented in everyday industrial operations."

Green Electricity from Own Production

The new eTruck runs predominantly on electricity from renewable energy sources, including purchased green electricity as well as the company's own photovoltaic system at the Wolkersdorf site. This not only reduces CO₂ emissions, but also contributes to regional, sustainable energy supply. Manner is already thinking about the next step: funding for a second fully electric articulated truck and a 7.5-tonner, which will supply the Manner flagship store at Stephansplatz in Vienna's 1st district, has already been approved. The company is thereby consistently expanding its emission-free transport fleet and underlining its commitment to transforming logistics sustainably.
