Ten years of the MAN Engine Academy: Training for marine, off-road and gas engines now also available online

At the MAN Engine Academy in MAN Truck & Bus's International Engine Competence Centre in Nuremberg, MAN Engines have been training end customers and service companies in how to handle MAN engines properly for ten years. Just in time for this year's anniversary, online training is now also being offered. Regular maintenance intervals are crucial for marine, off-road and gas engines to ensure that they are working correctly and have a long service life. To this end, experienced specialists train certified service support points, sales partners' service staff and end customers in three- to five-day courses at the MAN Engine Academy in the Engine Competence Centre in Nuremberg. From now on, customers can choose between even more training options. In addition to in-person seminars in Nuremberg and the responsible national representatives in Florida for the Americas and Singapore for the continent of Asia, training can also be provided directly at the customer's premises. In addition to these in-person events, there is now also online training available, meaning that travel time and costs can be saved. "MAN is synonymous with high-quality products and customer proximity. With our online training courses, we're paying off on our brand promise of "Simplifying Business" for our customers," says Reiner Rößner, Head of Sales at MAN Engines. In theory and practice, the training courses – including the online ones – are all about the functionality, diagnostic strategies and maintenance of MAN engines, which are used all around the world in agricultural machinery, railway applications, combined heat and power plants or ships, for example.

Since 2012, up to four training courses have been taking place in parallel in the MAN Engine Academy, which covers an area of over 1000 square metres. In the premises specially designed for engine training, extensive training equipment is available for practical use in addition to cutting-edge training material for the theoretical content – from functioning engines for the application being taught to state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, exhaust aftertreatment systems and system modules of the respective machines and vehicles. In addition, the two integrated training test benches mean that engines can be operated under realistic conditions and practical fault situations can be simulated. All training situations can now also be presented digitally and integrated into training courses online.
