Anniversary: 200,000th MAN TGE produced
· Production milestone reflects strong growth in recent years
· Nearly one in three MAN TGE vehicles is delivered with a body conversion
· Series production of the MAN TGE began in Września in 2017
In the year marking its tenth anniversary, the van from MAN Truck & Bus is celebrating another milestone: at the beginning of October, the 200,000th MAN TGE rolled off the production line at the Września plant in Poland. The anniversary vehicle is a MAN TGE 5.160 cowl with rear-wheel drive and automatic transmission. Since its market launch, the MAN TGE has established itself as an integral part of the MAN product portfolio and gained a strong foothold across a wide range of industries, including trades and crafts, construction, logistics, municipal services, and as a platform for premium motorhomes.
The MAN TGE was first presented ten years ago at the IAA Commercial Vehicles exhibition (now IAA Transportation) in Hanover. Series production started shortly afterwards in spring 2017. Reaching the first 100,000 units produced by summer 2023 took MAN more than six years. The second 100,000 units, however, were produced in just over three years.
One of the key strengths of the MAN TGE is its body-building expertise inherited from MAN’s truck business, offering a comprehensive range of turnkey body solutions, from tippers, dropside bodies, box bodies, shelving systems and refrigerated transport solutions to passenger transport applications. The close collaboration with body manufacturers is also reflected in the variety of vehicle configurations produced. Of the 200,000 MAN TGE vehicles manufactured, approximately 71% were panel vans, 21% single-cab chassis, and 8% double-cab chassis. As a result, nearly one in three TGE vehicles was delivered to the customer with a body conversion. In terms of transmissions, automatic gearboxes (53%) slightly outnumbered manual transmissions (47%). The most popular colours were Candy White, Indium Grey Metallic and Reflex Silver Metallic.
Finally, two further interesting facts about the anniversary vehicle: the 200,000th MAN TGE consists of exactly 1,264 individual parts, and its production at the Września plant took approximately 52 hours.
