MAN Truck & Bus is responding to the growing demands of the European camping and motorhome market at Caravan Salon 2026 in Düsseldorf. At the heart of its exhibition presence is the MAN TGE, positioned as a versatile platform for a wide range of motorhome concepts. At the same time, MAN’s Van Business Unit is restructuring its camper portfolio. The new approach is based on differing customer needs and follows a three-pillar model: ready-to-use leisure vehicles for customers who want to start travelling immediately, flexible base vehicles for individual conversion projects, and professional platforms for motorhome manufacturers and body-building partners.
At stand E59 in Hall 16, MAN showcases two TGE models that illustrate the breadth of this new approach. A MAN TGE 3.160 4x2 equipped with the KombiFree Package demonstrates an easy entry into the world of mobile leisure with a fully converted, ready-to-use vehicle concept. Complementing the display is a MAN TGE 3.190 4x4 panel van featuring camper-specific factory preparations for further conversion. Both vehicles are equipped, for the first time and exclusively, with the innovative Reimo pop-top roof. The new sleeping roof offers the largest roof opening currently available for the MAN TGE, creating a spacious interior feel by significantly increasing standing height both when opened and while travelling. The roof will be available with either manual or electric operation.
Three pillars tailored to customer needs
Customers looking for a vehicle that is ready to go can choose the new KombiFree Package for the MAN TGE. Combining everyday usability, leisure and camping functionality, the package includes as standard a flexible floor system with airline rails, a three-seat bench in the third row with folding and sleeping functions, insulation, window and sidewall trim, privacy film for the side windows and rear window, and an integrated audio solution. Optionally, two swivelling individual seats in the second row increase passenger capacity, while a centrally positioned sliding table provides additional storage and convenience.
For customers who prefer to build their own dream motorhome, MAN offers not only the standard panel van in various lengths, roof configurations and with up to 18.4 m³ of load volume, but also the MAN TGE Camper Van Base Vehicle. Specifically designed for motorhome projects, it comes with camper-focused factory preparations, providing a well-thought-out foundation for highly individual conversions. Available camper-specific features include air suspension, a raised suspension system, a second battery, a 230 V external power connection, pop-top roof preparation, swivelling driver and passenger seats, awning, transverse sleeper extensions, optimised energy management and a range of motorhome comfort functions.
For professional motorhome manufacturers, MAN offers several options for using the TGE as a base vehicle. Camper-specific panel vans and the dedicated Camper Van Base Vehicle, combined with extensive configuration possibilities, create a professional motorhome platform. For semi-integrated motorhomes, MAN also offers the MAN TGE cowl chassis featuring a low-frame design and wide-track axle.
Lifetime Connectivity
Another Caravan Salon highlight is the expansion of the MAN TGE’s digital services portfolio. The key innovation is the introduction of Lifetime Connectivity, available to customers at no additional cost. This means that all in-vehicle digital services, including online functions and map updates, are provided free of charge throughout the vehicle’s lifetime. For camper users, this ensures continuous access to services such as over-the-air updates, news and weather applications, and the digital owner’s manual. With the newly introduced MAN ID, customers also gain access to MAN Connect Streaming & Remote services, including the IDA Online Voice Assistant (powered by ChatGPT), web radio with included data volume, and Spotify (subscription required).
The previously chargeable MAN EfficientRoute package is now permanently integrated at no extra cost as well. The prerequisite is that the vehicle is equipped with either MAN Media Van Navigation or Media Van Navigation Business. Customers benefit from online traffic information, intelligent route planning and points-of-interest services, while online navigation map updates are now also available free of charge.
MAN Individual expands its offering
To meet the growing demand for personalization, MAN Individual is also showcasing its products at Caravan Salon. Customers can choose between the new MAN TGE Individual Black Package as an entry-level option, the established MAN TGE Individual Lion S line, and the new MAN TGE Individual Lion X. Defining features of the Lion X include front and rear underride protection elements, newly designed wheel arch extensions, mirror caps with distinctive lion-inspired detailing, and a rear frame accent. Optional black-finished bull bars and side protection tubes further enhance the vehicle’s off-road appearance. Performance kits are also available, increasing output for light-duty engines from 177 hp to 202 hp and, newly, for the heavy-duty engine from 163 hp to 190 hp.
With its presence at Caravan Salon 2026, MAN underscores its ambition to play a long-term role in shaping the motorhome market. The combination of commercial vehicle expertise, a comprehensive service network, close cooperation with body-building partners and a clearly structured product portfolio creates a strong foundation for future growth.
