Star appeal - Individuality is the name of the game for Malcolm Logistics

Malcolm Logistics, a division of the Malcolm Group, one of the UK’s leading independent third-party logistics providers, has recently added two new MAN TGXs to its instantly recognisable fleet.

These latest vehicles, L007 WHM and M19 WHM, both MAN Individual LionS models, stand out in the crowd for their high specifications, unique custom build quality, and their truly outstanding visual appearance.

Starting with high-specification MAN TGX Individual LionS 6x2 tractors, featuring the much-acclaimed GX cabs in Nardo Grey, known as the flagship of the MAN range, each vehicle has been treated to a bespoke Malcolm Logistics livery consisting of a vinyl overlay that rises from red to dark blue, then fades into light blue before it kisses the Nardo Grey toward the top of the cab. The livery also features the Malcolm Logistics name and the outline of a lion. This outstanding livery, designed in-house, was applied by Ast Signes and Graphics of Penrith.

Andrew Malcolm, Managing Director of The Malcolm Group, commented: “When we ordered these MAN TGX tractors, we knew we wanted to make them special and different, so we naturally thought of a bespoke livery and some nice custom additions.

“MAN trucks have formed the backbone of our fleet for some years, we find them efficient and trustworthy, and the high level of wrap-around care we receive is second to none. Furthermore, the drivers like the high levels of comfort, fit and finish.

“Both drivers, Mykee and Ian, enjoy the truck show scene and regularly attend truckfests on behalf of the company, winning prizes for their attention to detail, preparation and general vehicle care, so we know the vehicles are in good hands.”

These new additions are powered by MAN’s advanced D26 engine, which delivers 520 hp (382 kW) and 2,400 Nm of torque from its 12.4-litre displacement. This latest-generation Euro 6e engine perfectly balances outstanding efficiency, impressive power, reduced emissions, and maximum reliability.

The D26 6-cylinder powerplant is paired with MAN's TipMatic® 12-speed automated transmission, which uses CAN Bus data to enable the vehicles to automatically recognize gross vehicle weight and immediate topography incline conditions, optimising gear-shifting strategy and fuel efficiency.

Andrew continued, “As well as looking good and attracting attention for the right reasons, we need to ensure our fleet is efficient and from past experience with MAN we know the TGX delivers impressive TCO returns.”

To further enhance appearance, Kelsa light bars have been fitted across both vehicles, along with front and rear high-rise lights, a suzie frame, chassis infill, and a full chequer-plate catwalk and chassis cover. The mudguards, battery box, and wheel nut rings have all been color-coded red to match the lower half of the cab. Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels have been fitted across all axles, adding a touch of shine.

“Both of the new additions will work out of the Malcolm Logistics Grangemouth facility, travelling circa 150,000 kilometers per year, delivering customer goods throughout the UK.” Concluded Andrew.

Stuart McMillan, MAN Truck & Bus UK Regional Fleet Sales, commented, “Working with Andrew, Ker, and the Malcolm Logistics team has been an absolute delight. Their attention to detail, not only with these vehicles but with all their vehicles, is simply outstanding. Watching L007 WHM and M19 WHM transform into what we see today has been an incredible journey.

“Having a close relationship with Malcolm Logistics means we have a solid understanding of the operation and how our high level of service, across the board, both adds value to the business and at the same time looks after the drivers’ wants and needs.

“We understand that fuel is a major cost for any operator, and we’re delighted to see and hear that our vehicles consistently meet expectations and, importantly, deliver on our promise. We very much look forward to continuing this relationship.”

MAN Truck & Bus Bellshill (ML4 3NX) prepared and DPI’d both vehicles and will service and maintain them throughout their busy working lives.

MAN Truck & Bus UK's Nationwide Commercial Vehicle Dealer network supports all MAN vehicles, with many operating extended hours, including round-the-clock servicing and customer-tailored maintenance solutions.

The entire MAN range benefits from MAN's Mobile24 24-hour assistance service, which guarantees customers a professional roadside partner throughout Europe 365 days a year.
